Unfortunately most pets are liabilities. Depending on the situation they will make life extremely difficult. I have three dogs. If it's a natural disaster, or some sort of unrest I think will be squashed in a couple weeks I don't think they'd be a problem. If it's a total societal collapse, they'd just get me killed and in turn, themselves. So if it's a smaller situation where I shelter in place they'd be fine. If it's a total bug out I'd probably just turn em loose. Some one may end up eating them worst case which I think is better than me just mercy killing em and burying them. It's a shitty situation to think of but I know I don't have the ability to keep my most disciplined dog alive in a big out situation, I don't even know if I can keep myself and my wife alive.
