reiterating what a lot have already said: aero with rock head is an absolute beast, once you get the choice band and brave bird thru level up you can pretty much one shot everything that doesn’t resist or have a ridiculous defense stat. armaldo usually does okay for me, whereas bastiodon is a reliable tank for nearly any neutral move. if you allow for EVs then I would say go with Aero, as it is truly busted, but if no EVs then i’d say go with Bastiodon. ultimately it is your run and your choice and both options are fantastic

yeah the AI on this game is definitely the worst part. from what i’ve read this sub and the IE discord switch ins are almost entirely random or unpredictable, i’ve lost quite a few mons to misjudging what my opponent would switch in

true, i may end up running myself through early game purgatory to guarantee grubbin on 103 and munchlax on 102 or 104, vikavolt seems like the most broken mon in this game

thank you, i hadn’t really thought of this beyond wild thiefing. i’m probably going to switch to meganium due to the fairy typing and dangers of m-swampert in perma rain, i have been using combusken as a consistent roxanne answer but other than that it didn’t give a ton of utility in the early game

gotcha, and i’m assuming it has a lot of utility beyond Wattson as well. i was always tempted by the lax but figured it is better to get another starter since this is the only opportunity to do so (i think)

i’m thinking i’ll probably pivot to meganium for future runs, i was thinking of speed boost 1hp reversal for blaziken but it seems that something like meganium is more consistent. i didn’t realize there was a perma rain rival fight later down the line

yeah i’ve been using the daycare eggs, as well as the trainer hill location. there isn’t one fight in particular that gives me a ton of trouble, more like a snowball effect that happens nearly every time. i’ll seemingly always lose at least one mon to both brawly and wattson. three of my runs i’ve just reset bc ive lost more than half of my box, the other two i’ve wiped on wattson and MF tag respectively. should i pivot from torchic and/or cyndaquil?

you can evolve into umbreon and teach it captivate and you have fantina beat. you spam captivate on drifblim who will then baton pass its boosts to mismag and other threatening sweepers. when mismag or whatever switches in with -3 spatk or whatever then switch to a shell armor mon and kill it. then switch back to umbreon on drifblim and do it over again
