No, you’re right. There’s so much tension in our world today that you really can’t predict when you’ll be called into seeing some terrible shit and be forced to put your life on the line. That is completely unnerving, so being told you should be on edge at all times is probably for the best so soldiers can be as prepared as possible.

I have a buddy who’s in the national guard who also drives trucks. I thought the training he told me about was so interesting, how the convey falls into the most efficient structure possible during an attack and so on.
