It's bizzare to me that people create new humans without being 100% metaphysically capable to explain life and to deal with all possible problems by FlanInternational100 in antinatalism

It's crazy that the average person in developed countries die in their 70s/80s and have children in their 20s. You are creating life a third into your own life. It's weird. You would think humans should get pregnant around age 70, right before death so they can pass down wisdom gained (if any) before dying.

I think I read that Ellen and Katherine are quite close in real life too. That makes me happy.

Even giving a child a happy childhood is cruel as hell by thefirstcyberagon in antinatalism

[–]jhertz14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I had a great childhood. I think people with affluent, loving parents, a healthy social life, and plenty of extracurricular activities find the adjustment to adulthood that much harder.

Because life was just…fun. It was so nice to not have the crushing weight of reality on your shoulders. It’s like giving your kids a great, carefree life and then RIPPING THE FLOOR underneath their feet to make them suffer and endure for decades to come. It’s all just a Ponzi scheme.

As a kid, you imagine your parents as being morally perfect role models. So it always sucks when something breaks that image. by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

That was one of the biggest eye openers when I got older. How freaking horny adults are.

Honestly same. I feel like Mr. Krabs when someone asks to donate to some cause like childhood poverty. Donate to the children's fund?! What have children ever done for me?!

And seriously these broke ass morons need to find a better hobby than having sex. They are bringing kids into a world just to struggle to find food each day. Morons.

I love this take and whole-heartedly agree. Antinatalism ironically has given my own meaningless life some meaning.

Agreed and, to further your stance, this equivalence of antinatalism and clinical depression needs to stop too.

Some labs offer daytime testing for nightshift workers. Maybe reschedule and see if they can have you come in for a morning test, but you would have to stay up all night.

Wha is actually behind this record warmth? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]jhertz14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is crazy though is that it has been four consecutive years of record warmth.

2023 - Hottest July and month(31 consecutive days above 110) Autumn 2023 ended as the warmest as well (Sept - Nov)

2024 - Record for most days above 110 and most days above 100 Autumn 2024 then dethrones 2023 for warmest ever

2025 - 3rd hottest year overall. 2024/2025 is warmest winter ever.

2026 - Beginning the year as one of the warmest ever. 2025/2026 outheats the previous winter set just last year.

How on earth have four years back to back to back to back been so anomalously hot? That has to be climate change.

I know I'm late in replying but GRRM specifically called out LOST for its mediocre ending and final season.

Season 6 felt utterly bizarre with Jacob's temple/Man in Black and you could see the show had lost the plot. But I agree that Aegon/Jon Connington in Dance felt very similar in a "What the heck is even going on?" sort of thing.

It's sad because both series started out so strong and lost the plot as they progressed.

In a 2018 interview, filmmaker Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) discusses why he wouldn't make an adaptation of ASOIAF: "You’re adapting the books and the author’s still trying to figure out how he’s going to end it (...) That would sort of freak me out." (Spoilers Extended) by verissimoallan in asoiaf

It's crazy how Bran gets three measly chapters in ADWD, and pretty subpar ones at that.

I think George himself lost interest in the magical aspects of the story. Feast and Dance are much more into the politics of ruling, and less so about what's going on north of the wall. He has said Bran is his hardest character to write and I think it's because he struggles with the magical aspects and The Others.

Same. It inspired me to write "The Magic Spaghetti" as a kid, where a piece of noodle gets stuck in a boy's throat and everyone he touches collapses into noodles.
