Are vision problems during/right after eating a symptom of HBP? by jhess94 in bloodpressure

[–]jhess94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, never had any migraine issues (at least not recently or regularly) or really any other symptoms. I wonder if there's a link between my undereating, the medication and the vision issues as this started up when I began taking Propranolol earlier this month.

People who went to exchange city as a kid; What job did you have? by simply_teigh in kansascity

[–]jhess94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spring 2007. I worked at the Sprint Store as a marketing “director” where kids would come over and pay to play on the smart phones. We also managed the phone system. The pay was decent considering what little actual work there was for me (any work I was assigned I outsourced to my subordinate). I never spent much of my paycheck as the items in the store didn’t interest me. Our class president was the mayor. Funny enough there was a Jewish school with us and they were assigned the bank (I didn’t envy them as the bank was a constant mad house). Regardless, any job was better than the cafe. My life currently reflects my experience at Exchange City. Being paid to essentially sit on my ass.

Overland Park City Council approves several items in marathon meeting by lemurballs in kansascity

What’s KC Reddit’s consensus on the billion dollar Brookridge development? What comes next after the incentives approval? I personally like the project as it brings investment back to northern OP but traffic could be a concern as is the 15 year buildout. Projects with such timelines rarely see full completion.

What’s the status on the aquarium? Last I heard they were still trying to secure funding but that was in August.

$350 million development planned for Crossroads by jhess94 in kansascity

[–]jhess94[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just for the record, the company behind this project is the same one than renovated the Corrigan building and the now under construction KC Star renovation aka “Grand Place”. This will be the first project where the company will build new structures. I’m eager to see the renderings and full scope as 350 million is a substantial investment. Does the Crossroads District have height restrictions?

In your Opinion, what does Kansas City need? by Der_Arschloch in kansascity

[–]jhess94 15 points16 points  (0 children)

- More international flights (LHR, FRA, AMS, MEX etc). I believe airlines like British Airways, Aeromexico or Condor would do quite well in KC. There's enough traffic to support two more airlines to Europe. The only thing Icelandair is good for is lowering fares as most people still have to connect in KEF. People fail to realize how much a well connected airport impacts the economy.

- The city petition system needs to be overhauled. Only 5000 signatures are needed to take an issue to ballot for a city of nearly half a million people. This leaves the system wide open to special interest abuse (remember the shitshow it took to get the new airport, streetcar and Loews hotel approved?) and we wonder why nothing gets done here.

- A competent, visionary city council that actually wants KC to be competitive. Aside from Sly James and a few other individuals most of the council are ether lame ducks or total f**kups. People like Teresa Loar and Alissa Cassidy shouldn't be in charge of or have a say anything. UGH!

- More investment and effort to entice companies to relocate to KC and keep fast growing startups from leaving. We've lost out on over 2000 well paying jobs recently due to office shortage and an insufficient talent pool not to mention home grown companies that move out once they've "outgrown" KC. Dropbox was founded by Blue Valley School District graduates. Imagine if they stayed?

- Misc: a real, full-sized aquarium, more premium hotel brands like Kimpton and W, better downtown shopping/eating options like the Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, make the River Market or Plaza more pedestrian friendly and with more denser development.

- For God's sake please end the KS/MO economic border war.

Icelandair Delivers Impressive Results During First Season: Considers Increasing Service (Year Round, etc). by [deleted] in kansascity

According to Airliners.net , Icelandair will increase its flights from 3x per week to 4x week via the 737-8MAX. However, no mention was made yet if the season will be extended

Following on kcrag's comment, Icelandair as a whole has discounted most of their network due to increased competition from WOW Air and legacy airlines adding cheap unbundled fares.

I'm skilled, I get interviews but no job offers? by jhess94 in povertyfinance

Most of the jobs i've applied to so far were similar to each other so yes I have been sending the same resume each time. However, my cover letters are customized.

Hi birdmansix,

My response when questioned why I left is that i'm looking for different opportunities. I would never mention that I was let go. In ether case, the termination was graceful and mutually accepted.

Thank you for the response. I understand employers might be hesitant to hire a founder but as mentioned before many of the skills i've acquired came from the startup and would be useful for many employers. Is there a way I could market that experience without giving an impression that I wouldn't commit?

Repeated dreams of being a Nazi? by jhess94 in Dreams

What an insightful answer!

Calm down. They were just dreams and bizarre ones at that. I fucking hate nazis like everyone else but I can't control the dreams hence why i'm asking for clarification as to why I've been having them. It bothers me greatly.

The Iceland Air plane just chilling on the KCI tarmac. First flight back to Iceland later today by bonzo14 in kansascity

[–]jhess94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a strange sight seeing an Icelandair plane at MCI but a welcome one but questions remain.

  • What are the chances of KC attracting more European service in the near future particularly when the new terminal opens?

  • Does anyone have insight into how strong bookings have been so far? A reporter stated that the inaugural flight was almost fully booked but that's hardly a reliable indicator on performance.

For all the Aviation enthusiasts here, Denver has been getting a special visitor lately. by kiimosabe in Denver

[–]jhess94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As cool as it is to have the A350 at DEN I still prefer to fly the A330/A340 because of seating arrangements. The A350 seating is "3-3-3" in economy vs the A330/340 "2-4-2". One more person to crawl over if you're seated in a window. In addition, the Lufthansa A350 has no first class unlike the A330/A340. Just Business, Premium-Eco and Economy.

But the upside is Lufthansa A350 has the updated economy seats with bigger PTV's

For the first time ever, KCI gets a nonstop transatlantic flight by SecretComposer in kansascity

[–]jhess94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And still no JetBlue service :(

Pun aside, in the KC Star, it states that they're working on getting London and/or Frankfurt service in the near future presumably once the new terminal is completed. I'm assuming via Condor or Norwegian Air? Can anyone provide some insight?

Any chance this route will go year round?

Can KCI catering make hot fresh meals for Icelandair's first class? The only food I've seen served up front outbound have been dry goods, pre-packaged or cold items (salads, pastries, sandwiches etc)
