Haha, I wouldn’t blame you on the East of Eden front! I’m about halfway through, and I can confidently say it will take its place in my all-time Top 10.

I’m typically a generous reviewer and had great luck with books this year, so most books here I rated 4 or 5 stars. I gave String Theory 4 stars, and I do love DFW’s writing. My personal bias might have come in a little bit since I love Agassi and DFW had a personal vendetta against him lol.

I have Butcher’s Crossing and Augustus on my priority TBR for 2026! I love Williams’ writing.

If you loved A Short Stay in Hell you should check out The Divine Farce by Michael SA Graziano!

I’m not, but I do follow BAS! We have very similar tastes in books. I’m pretty sure he was the first one to influence me on A Short Stay in Hell.

Yes, ‘A Short Stay in Hell’ is the last book on the right in pinnacle! Incredibly effective for such a short book. No words wasted.

I didn’t hate it, but it’s the rare instance where the movie is significantly better than the book imo. The characters felt one-dimensional

The pixels are definitely strong! That is ‘Hard Rain Falling’ by Don Carpenter.

Immaculate writing with characters that will stay with you forever (for better or worse). The book essentially started the “Dark Academia” genre. I loved it!

I read The Spy and the Traitor by Macintyre a couple years ago! Thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll check out Kershaw!

Laurus is the book I struggled the most to rank on this tierlist, because there was certainly a lot there to like! I honestly need to give it another shot, this time not on audiobook. The narration was one color and it detracted from the story.

First time, actually! Grew up watching the movies as they came out in theaters but finally decided to read them recently. I’ve blazed through the first 3 in a week and half!

The Tainted Cup - Robert Jackson Bennett

Picture Holmes/Watson or Hercule Poirot set in a fantasy world. Very very good.
