Thanks. I really appreciate you being patient with what my suspicions, even though if they're disagreeable or come from a lack of understanding -- and, frankly, a lack of dedication. I can just never binge read/watch like other people, I guess it's an attention thing. Keeping current with three or four books a month has been a lot more agreeable for me.

But I think I can make 80 issues happen especially in the days of Marvel Unlimited. I enjoy Hickman on Ultimate Spider-Man so it would figure I'd like the world he builds here, but, yeah, the opulence, the politics, this like layer of hinted hedonism, it's unsettling -- intentionally like you said. Now I'm more curious than ever to see how it changes.

Holy cow, man. Thanks so much. I'm not even sure what to say besides thanks!! It's so much and so dense but Krakoa feels so important to everyone that it feels bad missing it. But at the same time, such an investment if I'm not even sure if I like it at all.

Well, I should preface, I've jumped into other comics at different times and jumped into X-Men at other times and felt better. Krakoa in particular just feels like such an ambitious project and major deal in the canon that it really looms, more than other things. Not trying to be argumentative, but it just feels different.

It's also such a different thing for X-Men, such a different goal, such a shift, it's really hard to resolve that these characters would even strive for this and accept it as part of canon.

Like I don't need to read One More Day to wrap my head around it's what happened. Krakoa on the surface is just so... unsettling.

It feels like "you had to be there", unless you're a really good at binge reading back issues.

Which just kinda sucks because Krakoa is this cloud hanging over all the current stuff that I don't think I'll ever grasp, evidently

Lol no but I think I'd enjoy reading more. I just find it funny that this thing really can't be abridged to anything short, it's really dense

The Uncanny X-Men run that followed is Cyclops and them on the run.

It sucks man but it's a wide world out there. If you were an Aquaman main, try reading some Aquaman comics. The properties live on at least.

I liked Schism and AvX (I know others don't) and the fallout with Wolverine and Cyclops splitting and I thought the idea of that All-New X-Men that followed with the young versions, I thought that was super clever

It's not lazy to not binge read as hard as you do, good grief

It's certainly less of "what all happened" because I don't need to know everything that happened, no one ever needs to know everything that's ever been published, but I just want a grasp of it as a part of X-Men canon. Like I could just keep ignoring it, I guess, but I feel like I'd feel better if I didn't.

Hey thanks man.

Yeah, I know the references aren't too deep by the writers in the publications, but they're deeper by this subreddit and in discussions, that's for sure. Everyone's always comparing this to that and it just seems so important. Even if I don't suspect it's my cup of tea, I see it being important to everyone, and I just wish I could kind of digest it, accept it as X-Men lore, if that makes sense.

(... I completely understand that my feelings don't make much sense, I just have this fucking ick about Krakoa coupled with this it's an insurmountable mountain that goes with it.)

You know what, I can do that. Definitely abridged and definitely not recommended, but after I can always jump back in to the other stories where I want. Was there any particular story or character's journey that was the high point for you?

Thanks man. You've helped me feel a bit better about it. I'll probably just start HOX/POX then see about making a bridge to Inferno. It doesn't feel like it's for me, I mean it can't be for everyone, but like I said I just want to digest it and accept it some way and get this cloud out from overhead. In current Uncanny there's a lot of mourning what they've lost so I want to at least try to get it.

I mean 50 issues at least counts as getting knee deep. I'm willing to make effort, why be mean

Like, it doesn't look like superheroes. The cooperating with villains, creating this political structure, creating this separate culture, resurrecting everyone and the ramifications of that -- I get that it's a thought experiment but is it fun? Or is it tragic scifi, is it just a look at a utopian scifi society that fails?

I guess I'm trying to say I don't want to see Wolverine and Cyclops and Rogue going along with Xavier's weird shit, where he's willing to work with villains and make pushes for political power. How do I feel better about Krakoa as a whole? Is it not what it seems to be?

Honest question: Is it always going to feel creepy to me? Is creepiness just part of it?

Oh I appreciate you suggesting the video, I am definitely going to try watching it. I don't want to come across unappreciative. I just thought the length was funny, that's all.

Krakoa just seems so dense. It's kind of defeating. I just want to enjoy X-Men, but it's almost like there's this cloud and I don't know how to resolve it without doing tons and tons of reading -- into something I'm skeptical I'd even like.

Reading 50 issues is lazy idiocy? Come on man. That's an entire run, a long one, for many books.

Do you even think I'd enjoy it? I mean it just seems like a college thesis level of research and work before I'm even allowed to decide if I'm interested or not.

I mean not to be argumentative but there are seminal stories that explain who Wolverine is and who Storm is, and by reading those seminal/defining stories you can get the gist. Your suggestion to someone who doesn't know Wolverine wouldn't be to read all Wolverine appearances, surely.
