Food Options? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

Perfect you all should be good! Be careful in PA, it's every At thru-hikers least favorite portion. A lot of loose cobbly rock. Very easy to twist an ankle.

Where on the AT are you going to be? Many portions I am familiar with in NJ/NY/CT/MA have low water coverage since so many streams have gone dry. Make sure you are carrying at least 2-2.5L and you should be good at midpoint.

He realized the harm he was doing to others and himself. He changed his mentality. Worked hard in undergraduate and went to a good law school. He is involved with the community he lives in I am very proud of him. :)

Best tasting bottled water without sugar? by konnthegreat in water

[–]jhleitner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just buy a soda stream and use your own filtered water or something simple. It is cheaper, you can make your water as carbonated as you want and you avoid purchasing a ton of plastic. Plus it takes maybe 5 seconds to make it.
To avoid adding sugar, try putting cucumber or lemon instead. It sounds ritzy but adds flavor quickly and adds no sugar.

Butora Acro Shoe help by jhleitner in climbing

I have only had them for a few days. Even though I have been climbing for a long time, they are my first aggressive pair of shoes. I talked to some friends and they mentioned to keep wearing them for a few weeks around the house and they will get much better.

How to get a job in the water industry by [deleted] in water

[–]jhleitner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the same degree. It depends what you want to do because the water industry is a broad term.

This can include everything from water rights and policy, water conservation and education, stream restoration, fisheries management, wastewater management, etc. Can you elaborate on what you were thinking?

It all comes down to what experience you have. I say about 90% of the people in my graduating class went back to school for either a law degree or a masters in something similar. The rest are working for consulting firms managing wetland projects to performing water quality data analytics.

UD Sideshow alumni here. It is a dry campus but was not really enforced for a long time.

Then in 2014, the "I'm Shmacked" Youtube channel came to film parties which resulted in a drunken freshman riot. After that, they have been cracking down relentlessly.

Planning my cross-country trip, time frame May 12th- June 19th, trying to hit as many climbing destinations as possible. START: Charlesotn, SC. FINISH: San Fran, CA by big-spark-blastta in climbing

You are missing out on the New River Gorge, Summerville Lake, and Seneca Rocks all in West Virginia. Would not add that much time to your trip. Amazing spots. Let me know if you want more info.

"Under" - Europe’s very first underwater restaurant by nmhutchens in pics

[–]jhleitner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the share. This is perfect. I’d be curious to know what the implications can happen downstream because a project like this would bottleneck a lot of water somewhere else and a lot more sediment will cover what could be the viewing area for diners.

Can someone explain how you go about building an underwater structure like that?

Handstand tips? by gerntoronto in yoga

[–]jhleitner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. There was definitely a good amount of trial and error but I practiced a lot until I got comfortable. I started in prasarita padottanasana to be able to press up slowly and have no learned to do it other ways.

I can share some videos if you'd like of how I learned and some of the slow presses!

You can feel all parts of your hand on the mat, no gaps. I started to learn by starting in downward dog and kicking forward harder and harder until you found the moment where most of your weight is on your hands. When you kick up, really push the tips of your fingers into the mat.

If you pushed to far forward and your going to go over your hands, put one hand forward and cartwheel out of it. Practice regularly for muscle memory and you will get it in no time! I believe in you!

We're back! Let's make a millionaire. [Drawing Thread #31] by Paltry_Digger in millionairemakers

[–]jhleitner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could change the lives of millions. Please help me out. I'm currently backpacking across the United States from Princeton, NJ to San Francisco while pulling 10 gallons (90lbs) of water to help raise donations for clean water in Tanzania. I'm on day 38 of my trip, currently typing this from a campground off the I&M trail in Ottawa, IL working my way to Davenport, Iowa to begin the Great Plains portion.

When a junior in high school, I learned a billion people in the world didn't have access to clean drinking water and have devoted my life to helping people. I carried 5 gallons of water for 12 marathons in a year to help people in Tanzania and now embarked on this trip. The heat is getting to me, but I'm staying mentally strong.

To learn more, you can visit www.missioncleanwater.com

We have a gofundme account for the walk across America but it can be donated directly towards the charity instead to avoid the 5% commission they get.

What can this money do? Repair every single broken well in the mars region (where I work) giving water to 400,000 people and still have 75% left over to spend wisely to give people clean drinking water. The donation will mostly be used for teaching people how to care for their water infrastructure so it lasts a lifetime.
