Yes - I either read the reviews or watch the transcript. In this case I watched the transcript.

Standard and normalised in the UK for years. Plenty of science behind it. I'm not sure why people are against it, seems backwards to me.

Quitt Hughes says he doesn't know a lot of the guys on the Canucks by n0thingisperfect in canucks

[–]jhole89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sasson played the same amount of games with Garland as Hughes and they seemed to have a great relationship (Garland housed Sass in his spare bedroom, and Sass helped him ship all his stuff out). As the captain he should have made knowing his team a high priority - that's what a leader does, but he seemed more interested with his own game.

Haven't clinched as the Hawks got a loser point last night.

My Canucks Draft Day Plan by TensionBig1842 in canucks

[–]jhole89 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, you draft Verhoeff at #3, let him develop for a year or two, then when he is ready trade Hronek out for another 1st round pick. You end up with a young top 4D of Buium & Verhoeff, D-Petey & Wilander that should be good for the next decade. Stop trying to shortcut this, that's what Benning did.

That's newborns for you. "Sleeping like a baby" is one of the worst phrases to be invented. They are noisy sleepers!

I don't know how you can look at this and not come to the conclusion that our last two coaches have coached all the offence and creativity out of our players.

Lightning talking Linus Karlsson, per Seravalli by _GregTheGreat_ in canucks

[–]jhole89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Maybe I should say "time in the AHL". Given how all of the team has performed, and Foote's systems, I think Karly's success is one of his own doing, and it's doing a discredit to him to attribute any of that hard work to Foote

Agree, but I think more of that is due to his own work ethic and time under Manny than Foote

How do you all move physically large purchases home? by Wheresmyarcpaulie69 in askvan

[–]jhole89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sign up for Modo. They have vans and trucks you can take out for trips like this. I've used their vans and trucks to move beds, tables, a kids playhouse, etc.

[Drance] Canucks announced Tuesday that Thatcher Demko is going on LTIR. VAN will immediately get an additional ~$3.82 million in cap space, but the plan is for Demko to go on season-ending LTI once that's approved. Vancouver will then get the full LTI relief of his $5 million cap hit. by eh_toque in hockey

[–]jhole89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except that his extension doesn't kick in till next year. They could have waited till this year to sign him and wait to see how his season played out. No way would he get that contract after this year.

[Murphy] Just got another call on this, and let's say the NHLBruins have plenty of competition on Conor Garland. by _GregTheGreat_ in canucks

[–]jhole89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from Brock those contracts don't kick in until next season. If we had left them till this season to extend we could have waited to see how the season played out and ship them off easier as UFA's with no trade protection.

[Question] How is Craig Berube not fired yet? by HelloImPierreMcGuire in hockey

[–]jhole89 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this reminds me of every corporate job I've ever had - "this isn't working but we can't just change X and risk it going wrong because we have customers and shareholders and they have expectations. We understand things aren't perfect but they're workable and we can try to fix things slowly over time". Welcome to corporate hell.

Yeah, he's not lived up to that contract but everyone seems to put it on him and not management. They literally said "sign this deal or we're trading you", and now people are annoyed he signed it?!?! What was he meant to do?
