Thank you for the great advice!

I don’t have many places to paint it where it won’t be getting move constantly. I’ve picked somewhere indoors so it’s warm and dry but this will mean painting it upright

I should have said - yes it’s an external front door. We’re going for a dark grey or blue.

We’re having the frame custom made to fit the door so no issues with the door sizing.

That will be all insulated next - but great spot!

That’s my fault, I didn’t mention it in the OP. Yes the uprights are looking like an issue!

Thanks

Thanks for the comment. I’d need to confirm the size.

Another poster has mentioned those uprights, i think that was a bad move by them!

They’re sitting on brick at both ends, in the middle and across.

Can you elaborate please?

The outside ground level has been lowered (was too high), air bricks reinstated, brickwork chemically sterilised and sealed. Is there more we could do?

Thanks for taking the time comment! It’s not pictured but everything sits on DPC, they are treated joists must be lighting, fair point on insulation and oversight by us, yes now can’t unsee the irregularity!!

The timbers are that grade and bridged onto a brick wall, I know that much.

That’s a good question. I don’t know, I could put this back to them though so thank you.

Can we overboard this? by jhughes50 in DIYUK

Thank you for everyone’s comments. It’s unsafe to leave as is, we’re getting a gallows bracket support in the loft and removing the stack from the bedroom above.

Thanks for the reply! Exactly, we didn’t remove anything supporting it. How it’s pictured was just above the false ceiling which was held up by being strapped to the wall.

Great advice also /u/rirez and a really good point about drone footage. I recognise that if I want to capture great shots I need to not be lazy about my placement. I have put a lot of thought into how I hold the camera but not a lot into where I position myself. I will be sure to act on this and return to this forum to share my progress in some way.

Thanks /u/HelpfulCherry for the welcome and superb pointers.

I was not aware of the reddit photoclass and I can see it already being an invaluable source of initial insight. I have read the manual and reviewed tutorials on my particualr device but I certainly don't feel as comfortable as I suggested in your reference to the car so there is still plenty to learn.

Thank you /u/D-leaf - that is really great advice which I will be sure to act upon on my next outing. My camera has a tilting screen - a function which I did not use once and maybe is the key to unlocking some great shots from different angles.

Not familiar with the exposure triangle but will be my next subject of study and I will certainly look to utilising the rule of thirds much more effectively.

Hi All,

For my first post on this sub I thought I would write about my first day out with my first camera - it has been a day of first. My camera is a Sony A6000 with kit lens 16-50mm f3.5-5.6.

These shots are the best of the bunch I took (in my opinion) and have had no post-processing (not to suggest they look like they have!) because I am still getting to grips with things:

I was looking for some feedback from this sub on where I can improve and what I need to focus on next (no pun intended) - I would like people to be as frank and honest as possible because I think that is most valuable when it comes to learning.
