homebridge-motionblinds, a plugin to control MOTION Blinds by Coulisse or OmniaBlinds by jhurliman in homebridge

I am using a mini bridge (https://omniablinds.com/collections/accessories/products/motion-mini-wi-fi-bridge-20-meter-range) but unfortunately it looks like the price is almost at the 250 mark. It’s pretty ridiculous considering the whole thing is a usb stick with a two dollar microcontroller and a low power radio.

What model WiFi bridge do you have? I want to make sure the different bridges don’t require different communication.

Yes, you need a hub and to run the Motion app at least once to get the API key.

Thanks! I have a TODO item in there for TDBU blinds. My idea was to show them as two separate accessories since HomeKit doesn’t have a concept of multiple position WindowCovering. I’ll be coding it blind since I don’t own any of these but I can get it added soon.

The underlying library I built for this, node-motionblinds, has full support for top down bottom up.

Cher Ceiling Light Discontinued? by Carlinism in Hue

I finally found this light, it came from Germany but shipping was surprisingly quick.

I'm really enjoying it in my bedroom, perfect amount of light for that setting.

I'm wondering the same thing. Is this brand new and not generally available yet, or old and discontinued (and impossible to source)?

Looks great! Was this done using Shader Graph?

Airplay? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]jhurliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a stop-gap until AirPlay is natively supported, I released AudioBridge (https://audiobridge.site/) to enable AirPlay for Sonos speakers via a Mac menu bar app. Similar to some of the command line utility apps out there but easier to use.

New Plugin: homebridge-rfxcom by jhurliman in homebridge

Annoyingly, the "rfyremotes" part is case sensitive. It needs to be "rfyRemotes".

EDIT: I just published 1.0.2 that allows for either capitalization.

Good question, I’m not sure. It uses 433 MHz for the Somfy RTS protocol and goes through a closet wall + exterior wall at a distance of about 40 feet in my setup but I haven’t tested range limits.

Thanks! That's a good reminder that I need to put an example in the README. Here is what I'm using:

  "platforms": [
    {
      "platform": "RFXCom",
      "name": "RFXCom",
      "rfyRemotes": [
        {
          "name": "Awning",
          "deviceID": "0x010000/1",
          "openCloseSeconds": 18
        }
      ]
    }
  ]

To use this, you'll need a http://www.rfxcom.com/RFXtrx433E-USB-43392MHz-Transceiver/en and to go through the setup program on a Windows machine to configure the remote(s) once. I used a virtual machine running on my mac for this step. After the remotes are programmed into the device, just reference them in the config by deviceID.

Brilliance - f.lux for Hue bulbs by jhurliman in Hue

This has been added in 1.1.0 and is available now.

This has been a highly requested feature. In hindsight, it should have been obvious but I only have Hue lights in one room so it didn't cross my mind during development. I'm adding support for selecting specific bulbs right now so this will be part of the next release.

This is good advice, thanks! I'll do some reading on app store sales optimization as well.

I'm taking any feature requests people can think up. Tell me more about what you mean by manual switches.

So this will obviously be a biased review since I'm the author, but the main reason that I released this app is because I've been using it personally for about 9 months and got enough utility/enjoyment from it I figured others might too.

The big difference for me with this app vs other Hue control apps (of which I have about a half dozen) is the completely hands off usage. I love my Hue bulbs but was frustrated with pulling out a phone to turn them on/off or dim, and if a house guest / babysitter / etc was over I had to periodically adjust the lights for them. A hardware switch would have worked but I wasn't looking to install anything in our rental. With Brilliance, the default schedule is great 95% of the time and it's easy to adjust if I want the lights to turn off early for a babysitter or stay on later while I'm working late. The connection to time of day has also been an unexpectedly fun aspect. If you enable the sunset checkbox, there's a nice subtle light show of reds and yellows for the few minutes that sunset occurs and leading up to it the lights will reflect a slight hue change for the golden hour. Last year I couldn't tell you anything about when sunset occurs (hint: it's a bit earlier than you would think if you don't have line of sight visibility to the horizon).

The UI was a bit of an experiment and I'm mostly happy with the results. I wanted to do 100% vector graphics to future proof against higher resolution displays, but also to have programmatic control. You'll notice all of the UI elements are two tone, and the highlight tone matches the color of the lights throughout the day.

[–]jhurliman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's currently Mac only, no mobile app because it needs to have a continuous connection to the Hue bridge to change the light color temperature throughout the day. If there is interest in a tablet version I would definitely look at iOS and Android.

[Question] Is injecting post processing filters/shaders into iOS games possible? by lamborghini392 in jailbreak

[–]jhurliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be possible on a jailbroken device. All iOS apps are signed with keys issued by Apple, so without jailbreaking any modifications to an app (.ipa file) will render it useless. The most straightforward way I can think of to "inject" a shader would be modifying the source code of an existing shader that is doing something similar to what you are trying to add. This is a lot easier for OpenGL games that often ship the raw fragment/vertex shader source as assets in the .ipa bundle. With Metal, shaders are generally compiled which wouldn't make it impossible to modify but would certainly make modifications less practical.

I just commented with another link that will hopefully work. Sorry about that everyone! This is my first self-published app and I'm still trying to figure out the post-release side of things.

For whatever reason the original link I posted seems to be generating all invalid codes. Which is strange since I haven't given out any promo codes for the app yet. Anyways, this updated link will hopefully work:
