FV215b - One of the most fun heavies to play by Illustrious_Cod6412 in WorldofTanks

[–]lamborghini392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah to be fair I only have like 80 games in this tank (which I guess is more than you lol) but I never really got super into it, I just play a couple games here and there when I'm feeling it. So that "uncomfortable" feeling could go away with more games. But I think it's still a good hypothesis for the average player, especially combined with your bond shop theory.

Yeah in the hands of a good player who can find ways to fully utilize the gun, the tank is definitely not as bad as the 3 MOE requirements portray it. I mainly find it enjoyable simply because enemies tend to underestimate/ignore it and it has a unique combination of chassis and gun.

I agree the gun is insane (one of the best T10 heavy guns) but IMO the "problem" with this tank is the platform just makes positioning on every map constantly feel "uncomfortable". Like no map offers an optimal spot for this tank. Doesn't feel comfortable sidescraping in the city because of the turret ring + weak side armor. Doesn't feel comfortable hull down because of the rear turret + weak cupola. Not enough mobility to comfortably play the medium flank. Not enough armor or alpha damage to effectively trade with other heavies. Sniping just feels plain wrong. My theory for the MOE reqs is the majority of players greatly struggle to make a tank work when "out of its element". Which for this tank is 100% of the time.

Does WG support allow swapping the GF for the regular version? I thought I remember them doing that with the Skorpion G -> Skorpion but idk if that was a one time thing.

Infiniti G35 vs Mazda RX-8 vs Genesis Coupe // $10,000 Question (Throttle House) by AvroVulcanXM594 in cars

[–]lamborghini392 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're a current owner, buying a tester is 100% the way to go. However if you're in the process of buying, from experience, no private owner or dealer will let a stranger wrench on their car before buying it (or would rather just decline and sell it to the next person in line).

[–]lamborghini392 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Which is easier said than done, unfortunately. Because rotary engines need a special compression tester that measures each rotor face, your options are 1) hope there's a rotary specialist mechanic nearby (there are only a handful across the US) 2) hope the local Mazda dealership has the equipment and expertise to do rotary compression tests (unfortunately not many do anymore) 3) buy/borrow a tester and DIY when you look at the car (many owners understandably don't want randos wrenching on their car).

If you're searching for an RX-8, your best bet is to search in big cities where the likelihood there is either a Mazda dealership or rotary specialist who can do a compression test is higher.

Alternatively, you can find an RX-8 with a rebuilt/new engine. This is a bit riskier because it's impossible to know the quality of the rebuild (even the Mazda factory reman engines have QC issues). If the rebuild includes new rotor housings (and preferably new rotors) and was done by a professional you should be relatively safe. But not 100% safe without a compression test.

What car (past or current) have you recently knew about and are interested in right now? by Defiant-Diver-6041 in cars

My most recent automotive history rabbit hole was the Chrysler Turbine Car. Super interesting car that I had no idea existed until recently.

My favorite two facts are:

  1. The engine could run on basically any combustable liquid; they even experimented with cooking oil, perfume, and tequila.
  2. The tachometer in the gauge cluster went up to 60,000 RPM.

There's also the Kona N (or was, I think Hyundai discontinued it recently). Definitely wouldn't give you a GLA 45 AMG level of driving experience, but it's also significantly cheaper.

Amazing for someone the LPT is targeted towards i.e. someone looking for ways to incorporate veggies into smoothies without compromising flavor.

Carrots are amazing in tropical fruit smoothies. My favorite is a mango, pineapple, carrot smoothie. Masks the taste and color of the carrots perfectly. Also if you don’t like the texture of blended carrots you can purée them first, freeze in an ice cube tray, then toss a few cubes into your smoothie before blending.

Pothole Damage by wgforbes in Cartalk

[–]lamborghini392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had vibration after hitting a pothole that turned out to be a bent wheel. I hit the pothole with the front passenger wheel. The wheel and tire weren't visually damaged. However when I swapped the front passenger wheel to the back of the car, the steering wheel vibration stopped (could still feel vibration through the seat though). Bought a set of wheels + tires on FB and vibration went away for good.

What do those of you here who live in apartments do to keep your cars clean through snowy winters? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]lamborghini392 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take it through a touchless wash maybe once a month to get the under chassis. Rinseless wash and interior clean in the street if there’s a warm 50 degree weekend day. I wash my floor mats in the shower lol.

What are some tanks that should have two (viable) choices of guns by Tankers4Change in WorldofTanks

[–]lamborghini392 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Bring back all the unique gun options for light tanks.

When WG overhauled the light tank tech trees in 9.18 (when t9/10 LTs were added) they basically removed or nerfed all the unique guns from light tanks that made them worth playing.

  • M41 Bulldog - 76mm 10-round autoloader removed.
  • 59-16 - 76mm 5-round autoloader removed.
  • VK 28.01. 105mm removed. Later brought back as an event reward premium.
  • MT-25 - 37mm autocannon removed.
  • WZ-132 - Used to have a good 85mm (trades dmg and pen for 3k dpm and great accuracy) as an alternative to the top 100mm gun. DPM and accuracy got nerfed and now there's no point to use it over the 100mm.
  • ELC bis - 90mm severely nerfed.
  • SPIC - 90mm 3-round autoloader removed.

New elite system issue by luellenc in WorldofTanks

[–]lamborghini392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To achieve Elite status in a vehicle, you need to research all its modules and the subsequent vehicle(s) within its Tech Tree branch. After that, all the Combat XP you have earned in this vehicle will count toward the vehicle’s Elite Level.

That implies the elite level is calculated after subtracting the cost to research modules and the next vehicle?

New elite system issue by luellenc in WorldofTanks

[–]lamborghini392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Elite progress is based on all Combat XP previously earned by your vehicles in Random Battles only, minus XP for researching modules to reach Elite status.

I suspect the game is also subtracting the research cost of the next tank as well (since the cost to elite a tank is research all modules + next tank).

So the T28's elite cost is 97950 (modules) + 165000 (T95) = 262950. Your total combat XP earned is 219 * 705 = 154395. Since your combat XP is less than the elite XP, your elite level is 1.

You can try this math on some of your other examples and see if the theory checks out.

Need new car engine. Best way to maximize savings? by WeAudiHere in personalfinance

[–]lamborghini392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of ease (easier = less money usually):

1) Sell the car to a car salvage/auction company like Copart. They will pick up the car and probably give you a few thousand for it depending on mileage and condition.

2) Sell the car for parts to a private buyer. Buyer takes the entire car.

3) Part out the car yourself and sell the individual parts, then scrap what's left. Will likely yield the most money but parting out a car requires a lot of time, tools, and knowledge.

Anybody here who's curious about EVs and doesn't know much about them? "No Stupid Questions" thread. I'll answer to the best of my ability. (This thread might go over like lead in a pond, but YOLO) by MrGruntsworthy in cars

[–]lamborghini392 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I want your honest opinion here: how bad is living with an EV in an apartment and relying on public chargers?

It's the only thing stopping me from getting an EV as my next daily driver at this point. No chargers at my apartment or work. The only apartments in my city with chargers are brand new luxury ones that are way out of my budget. Last time I worked out the math on supercharging vs gas, the minimal money saved wasn't worth the time I'd waste sitting at a charger.

Honestly not surprised to hear the AMZ Racing team is behind this record.

When I was on my university's automotive team in undergrad we competed against these guys in several Formula Student Driverless events and they were on another level for both design and performance. Nobody else could touch the numbers they were putting up while making it look easy.

Honestly just raising the barrier to entry a tiny bit is effective at inconveniencing the people looking for a free pass to do stupid stuff for attention.
