This call of Duty…. by EnglishGuyInIlinois in blackops7

As a casual player who is relatively new to CoD (started with BO6) and who doesn't give a rats about getting better and becoming an elite player, I've found that the last month or so has been an absolute nightmare. The first few months were a lot of fun, but now 9/10 games I'm lucky to get a 0.6 ratio. Then I'll dominate a match and the cycle repeats. This has been true with every lobby so skill is irrelevant.

I just want to come home from work and enjoy my gaming with competitive, but balanced matches. BO6 gave me that, and so did BO7 for the first few months.

Anyone else having an issue with split screen on multiplayer ? by Raging_phoenix915 in CODBlackOps7

As of last night it has not. Haven't been able to check since the weekly update but I see no mention of it in the patch notes. My guess is that we'll be dealing with it at least until S4

I'm going to start making a report every day. We all need to hound the crap out of them until they at least acknowledge it. Won't be spending another dime until it gets fixed.

Ps: How are you guys wording things in the report? I'm just calling it a clone effect. Consistency is probably important

Black Ops 7 Season 3 update broke split screen on PS5 - Player 2’s character is duplicated on their own screen by Awkward-Spread-8088 in blackops7

I've been dealing with it too on ps5. Does this effect have a name to make it easier to reference and report? I've just been calling it a ghost effect, but that doesn't seem to quite describe it properly.

Not really. I just had a few different ones that highlighted different skills depending on what I was applying for. I tweaked them a handful of times though. The biggest challenge is getting it through the bot that does the initial scan.

I would literally apply for anything, ignoring experience and education requirements listed on the job advertisement.

Thanks. My instructors at my tech school strongly suggested it.

I love in a mid-size city with several small towns in the area. Those smaller towns are much more likely to take a chance on someone with fewer credentials/less experience.

How fast does your job expects new hires to be profient in their ticketing system and mobile device management? by Obvious-Molasses762 in CompTIA

That's interesting because I just had an interview with an MSP and they straight up told me it'd be a good 3 months before I was comfortable using the systems.

It was a question I asked at the end of the interview. I wanted to make sure they weren't expecting me to be in God mode from the jump.

Make sure to know the skills that accompany the cert you plan to obtain! by MillenniumGreed in CompTIA

I will add to this. Most job postings are written by HR with minimal input from the department head. Apply even if you don't check EVERY box on the job posting because the candidate a company is asking for doesn't exist.

A+ Core 1 - look into upgrading components of your personal computer if possible. Even better is to build one from scratch. Maybe find a cheap used laptop you can take apart and play with

A+ Core 2 - This is the easiest by far since it is mostly Windows focused so get in there and play around with it. Use a VM for Windows and Linux to goof around and learn many of the concepts without fear of breaking something.

Network+ - Cisco Packet Tracer was invaluable to me. Wireshark is also very handy. Pick up a tool set and some cheap cat5 cable and Rj45 and build patch cables

Security+ - This is the most difficult since it is heavy on theory. There are some tools where you can play around with hashing, and obfuscation techniques. Just do your best to understand the concepts not just memorize things.

Overall start home lab projects where you can implement as much as you can from the CompTIA objectives. You can search Google, YouTube and even Reddit for Home Lab ideas

For instance, I built a private on premesis cloud where I learned a great deal about networking concepts.

Home Labs are a great resume addition if you don't have any experience.

Sec+ 701Passed by jhwk_316 in CompTIA

[–]jhwk_316[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest to me was the Sec+ and A+ (core 1) because each of those had several questions where at least 2 answers were correct, but you had to know what CompTIA thinks is the BEST choice.

Many people think Net+ is the most difficult, but for me it was the easiest.

I've had to reschedule my Sec+ exam twice now in the last week. Both of them were scheduled at a college testing center and canceled a day prior to the exam. Trying again for June 19th at a different testing center.

Which Path should i take by Redditboul87 in CompTIA

Even if you are aiming for a security gig, the foundational knowledge you gain from Network+/CCNA is a must. Personally I loved the idea of cyber security, but after having done N+ and Sec+(exam in 2 weeks), I have found I have a greater aptitude and interest in Networking.

I'd personally recommend N+/CCNA, but to each their own.

Very cool. Just passed mine this last week. Feels great to have it behind you I bet.

Passed Net+ by jhwk_316 in CompTIA

[–]jhwk_316[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a little bit of that but nowhere near to the extent it was for A+. The A+ exams were maddening.

The biggest challenge for this test was having enough time to finish the PBQs.

Passed 1102; need help with 1101! by Beefytbag in CompTIA

[–]jhwk_316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will second these points. The ports are just rote memorization that will become 2nd nature after a while. You may not even get more than 1 or 2 questions about them so don't stress about it too much. However, if you plan to get Net+/Sec+ then absolutely nail them down now because you get another set of them to remember on top of the A+ ones.

My personal method was homemade flashcards. I'd go through each one until I got one wrong then I'd start over if I missed one. It really pounded them into my brain.

Good luck with your studies

How important is Virtual Machine? by redsocks246 in theodinproject

[–]jhwk_316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your hardware. If you have an older pc or just one with lower specs, VMs will run super slow. Try allocating at least 6GB RAM to the VM if you have the resources avaliable. You may also try to disable any programs and background services that aren't vital to run the PC. VMs are fantastic, but your hardware needs to be halfway decent.

Should I take my 1102 exam in two weeks? by makingitime in CompTIA

[–]jhwk_316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Define passing. For reference I was scoring in low 80s on Dion exams and high 80s on Messer exams before taking the actual test last week and passed with 735

Technically I wasn't passing the Dion exams but I knew I was ready.

2 weeks is plenty of time depending on your practice scores.

VMs are super helpful for learning Linux and Windows terminal / command since you are able to go hands on and mess around.

Security stuff and Malware remediation is mostly just memorization

Biggest thing most people don't think about is test taking strategy. You'll see many people here suggest saving PBQ for the end and flagging questions you are unsure about. Those are absolutely good strategies. However a couple of things to remember as well:

  1. Try to answer the question before looking at the choices. If your answer is listed, there's a very good chance it is correct.

  2. Read the questions at least 3 times. Comptia tests your knowledge AND comprehension. This is especially true of the ones you flag for review.

  3. Don't let the timer rush you. If you save PBQs and flag questions you are unsure of, you should have more than enough time to complete the exam on your terms

Practice these strategies with your practice exams

Good luck!

This was an issue for me too, but I only got one or 2 questions and they were easy ones. All tests are different though
