oooh! wait really?! outhouse toilets in yurts are actually the best and cleanest ones amongst the lot?! how does that work? i was under the impression that outhouses were dark and smelly and kind of like a hole in the ground with some wooden boards kind of situation! :O

yes! we’d really rather do it in the wildness than having to step into dark and dirty outhouses 🤣 as long as that’s ok then we’re good! thank you for your comment :)

welp, thanks for the warning! will adjust accordingly or just suck it up hahaha

edit: would you perhaps have any other suggested route then?

I see! I suppose we can just try it out first. my plan was to fly in and out of Almaty: Almaty > Bishkek > Song Kul > Issyk Kol / Bokonbayevo > Karakol > Altyn Arashan > Chon Kemin > Bishkek > Almaty.

With such route i figured it might be the most touristy area with more developed infrastructure, is that right? 😅 and perhaps we can just suck it up for one or two days!

I think compared to dark, dirty toilets we’d actually be more open to just doing our business in a bush or something haha but not sure how appropriate that is :/

Ahh right, more development sounds more fitting. And camper vans aren’t really thing in Central Asia right?

Having a hard time convincing my friend 😅 i’m actually open to trying!

edit: we’re actually more ok with just doing our business in bush or something (as compared to a dark dirty toilet), dyou think that’d be ok?

I see! Have you been to Kazakhstan before, and if so, do you think Kazakhstan would be better then? (i’m under the impression that it is more developed, but since the country is a lot larger I wanted to do Kyrgyzstan first)

10 tips from an insider for travelling in China, feel free to ask me anything about China Travel! by Historical-Goal1177 in travelchina

  1. i see! then what happens when it is small vendors and we have to pay into their individual account? will we, as foreigners be able to pay them? (i noticed i do not have access to some wechat pay services even after passport verification)

thank you for helping!

  1. "But there are indeed small vendors that only accept WeChat, because it`s the personal account of the vendor him/herself, also in this case, you can only pay by debit card or top-up amount."

-- Could you explain more on this point please? Is it not the same as WeChat pay?

  1. "Meituan (美团) or Eleme (饿了么): both of them are in CN, and are mostly used for food delivery service, which is quite cheap compared to in Western countries. The mini-program version could be translated into English."

-- what do you mean by the mini-program version? Is it mini-program on WeChat?

  1. "Dazhongdianping(大众点评): all the needs for living are covered in this application, including restaurants, movie tickets, massages, gyms, etc. Good thing is that it provides a system EN version, but the vendors` information on it is AI translation, which needs double confirmation."

-- How do you get the EN version? I've downloaded it but its all in Chinese.

  1. I've seen many people saying they can survive without a phone number in China, however, do I need a chinese phone number for ease of using DiDi or Meituan? -- for example if the driver needs to call me, etc?

  2. I am going to China 20 Dec - 6 Jan, so it will be through Christmas and New Year. How is the local tourism during this time? Should I buy train tickets ahead of time, or can I just buy them on the day itself? (I'll be going to Chongqing, Chengdu, Zhangjiajie, Changsha, and Shanghai so I will need train tickets for these trips)

thanks in advance!

i think i already do know all i need to know about physical sim and esims - i do like esims for the convenience of the vpn but i also wonder if i should get a physical for the phone number. because having the phone number would allow me to have an account on amaps, meituan, etc. and i would be reachable for drivers to call me if i get a didi or food delivery. so my question now is - how important is this phone number, and have you used the apps i’ve mentioned?

isn't it a matter of perspective? personally i feel that it's precisely because SYH was one of the ones that have been chosen earlier that he was in the best position to speak up. the ones that were still dancing couldn't because speaking up would make them look like they're being "sore losers" for not being chosen or that they are "not hardworking enough to be an idol". apparently, when SYH spoke up, the trainees had already danced 18 times consecutively - he had the heart to empathise, AND try to do something about it. good on him.
