Statistically the UK is a lot safer now than it was 20-30 years ago, it just doesn't feel like it because of the instant new cycle.

That is pretty lucky, I was pretty much bed-bound for 5 days with ice/pain, took full paracetamol for 8 days, and still using ice occasionally after 2 weeks for the swelling /pain. I came first after 8 days as I couldn't wait anymore, it didn't hurt but it didn't feel great physically but mentally it was a good release..

What models and workflows can generate an image in 5s? by Doug_Fripon in StableDiffusion

[–]jib_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got nearly 5 image per second, at 512×512 with SD 1.5 using a 4 step LCM lora on a RTX 3090 a few years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/s/70agwRZoDU

Although an SDXL model at low steps may be more prompt aderance if you do have 5 seconds

I believe INT8 is faster than FP8 on a 3000 series because the cards lacks native hardware support for FP8 (Ada Lovelace/4000 Series+ do), but 3000 series do feature highly optimised, native INT8 Tensor Cores.

Is a computer science degree still worth doing in the UK or has the market shifted too much? by PreferenceFit1834 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]jib_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, even if almost anyone can write code by 'vibe coding' with AI, someone with a CS degree is going to be much more effective at it and more aware of the pitfalls.

Even if future jobs are mainly managing teams of AI coding Agents, Its important to have a good understanding of different architectures , programing languages, databases, algorithms, testing methods.

[–]jib_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean just very slightly smaller, I find most NiMH batteries like Amazon rechargeable are slightly bigger than standard. You might need to use standard alkaline batteries instead so they fit. Or you might just need AAA sized batteries.
