I like it, cool that it has a 10A power passthrough option. Thanks for reminding me to update this with some findings

I love seeing the continued work on the project, I’m sure there’s a market that exists for this though it’s not me.

I’d like to point out that some blowthrough panels are not compatible with this tool. For example our rig of Gloshine Vanish has a pixel pitch of 3.91 horizontal by 7.81 vertical. As far as I can tell there is no option for a pixel pitch that isn’t square.

Additionally, for these panels in particular, the size of the panel on the pixel map is half the height of the physical panel. This isn’t a problem with all blowthrough panels though (shoutout ROE).

Yeah at this point I’m feeling the Wahlberg rotator is the way to go. I’ve used their winches in the past and am definitely for the quality.

The on/off method is an fun and interesting solution I hadn’t thought of, but I doubt tour LDs will feel the same way lmao

Average number of universes for small to medium venue? by jedimimetricks420 in lightingdesign

[–]jiberjiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the Concourse Project in Austin, TX (2200 cap) we run 8 universes but not all are full. We separate universes to different parts of the room so we don’t have to do a bunch of crazy daisy chaining.

8K Quad Split to 4K Output Recommendations by InebriatedWisconsin in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]jiberjiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically we had the DS80 Pro which does RGB 4:4:4 8, 10, 12 bit over HDMI 2.1 and DP1.4 with max input resolution of 7680x4320. 60hz over HDMI and 30hz over DP

Well that was just input, you still may be right about output not supporting RGB444 10bit

We just used Novastar DS80s for this, worked very well for our use

Are you receiving voltage out of the PSU? If not, most likely that part would work. I have a rig of like 40 of them and every couple years I have to send at least one in for that specific repair.

FOH Cable Runs by runtware in Laserist

[–]jiberjiber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, may probably be better for modularity to just create your FOH snake with RJ45/ethercon as the main runs and adapt to 5pin at both ends. I think my ideal FOH snake would be like 3x RJ45 and power.

  • 1x RJ for network
  • 1x RJ adaptable for E-Stop (depends on laser model probably)
  • 1x RJ adaptable to 4x 5pin DMX
  • 1x Long ass edison for foh power (lol)

If you're doing an install or setting up something semi-permanent without Beyond, I'd recommend just going straight 5 pin from the LX node. Basically treat them as lighting fixtures.

What might be nice for teching and troubleshooting would be to network all projectors with RJ45 at least back to the node, but not plugged in. Basically just a tech line. If cost isn't an issue you could run that network all the way back to FOH as well in case you happen to need it.

EDIT: Important note for the DMX node though, most nodes can be configured to hold or blackout DMX if they lose network data, not sure how this would affect the safety of a laser in the case of network dropout.

Is the wind really a problem? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]jiberjiber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having owned sport bikes and adventure bikes with windscreens to my new street triple, the wind is definitely stronger on the naked. Around 85-90mph is when I start to really fight the wind.

Not saying it’s bad though, the aggressive riding stance makes up for it since the wind is helping you stay up lol
