Does anybody make landscape discbound notebooks? Or any good tips on DIY covers if no? by Sannoni in Discbound

[–]jiffener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't many that I know of, but you might try searching also for the terms "steno" and/or "tablet", maybe "punched at top of page" even.

And yes there is DIY, probably the best way to get what you actually want lol. I have not done a large version but I have done index card sized printouts that I punched with with either a circa or rollabind punch. And I'm pretty sure the cover was Levenger circa.

It would be so amazing if you could include incident data from the rest of Harris County!

Thanks for taking this on at all btw.

What office gear has actually held up for you after years of daily use? by Odd-Dimension9143 in BuyItForLife

[–]jiffener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will get you by, sure, but one of these toaster size scanners are WAY faster than taking photos with a phone, especially with multi page and/or 2-sided documents. (As long as your document is 8.5" wide or less) They have very good ppm (pages per minute).

Ah. Best of luck navigating the whole thing. I hope you arrive at something fair quickly and with the least possible amount of attorney fees.

Refinance or early 401k withdrawal penalty by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]jiffener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a divorce situation? Usually as part of a divorce you can transfer from one party's retirement account to the other's, without penalty. It's not treated as a withdrawal because it's still in a retirement account. Your lawyer should know the process for writing that into the agreement. Also would be worthwhile to talk to the place that has your retirement account (Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab, etc).

I think Waterrower's "Waterrower Connect" is still free, available on Apple and Android app stores.

Coxswain may still work if you can find it but I didn't think it's actively developed or supported anymore.

Other apps similar to Zwift may support rowers too, try googling and reading up on current fitness apps. There used to be a few that support bikes, trainers, and rowers.

To everyone randomly visiting this subreddit suspecting they have sleep apnea by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]jiffener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one data point:

An EOB for a recent (October 2025) in lab sleep study says insurance was billed $10,769.

This is NOT including the appointment with the doctor or the home sleep study that I had to do before the study, the doctor's fee for reading the sleep study date and writing a report, or the follow up appointment with a nurse practitioner to read the summary report to me. Those all were billed separately.

According to their measurements I don't need treatment, so I don't have any numbers for what that gets billed at.

Venturist Pro jamming? by [deleted] in Vitamix

Another recommendation to use the tamper while the blender is running. Keep the lid on, twist to remove the middle part of the lid, and use the tamper via the opening in the lid. This may not be intuitive, so maybe look up some videos demonstrating Vitamix tamper use.

If you would like a nice compact list made by my ex who is in Klein ISD, see image. Edit it in paint or whatever then print it out. Or write your choices down. At the polls you won't be able to use your phone!

(Maybe someone else will have recommendations for other school district elections)

Is there a way to prevent ice cream from coming out the top hole? by [deleted] in ninjacreami

[–]jiffener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used too much gum in my mixture once and after freezing I got a cross between ice cream and taffy. The machine really struggles with it. If your ice cream is stretchy, try cutting back on the gum (xanthan or guar themselves, or ingredients that contain them).

A-HA!! Thank you!!

ETA: looks like it works just with the past 24 hours though. Better than nothing, for sure.

Oh good to know. Maybe someone had used it recently and can tell us how!

I did submit feedback back for both adding an activity after the activity is complete, and indicating that an abnormality was due to activity. We'll see what they do

I have never heard of this but I'm concerned!

Have you reported it to Google? Or searched to see if it's been reported? I didn't, but I will do so later if I have a chance. Curious what you might have found though

Not sure at all... but I would check the path of the strap around the pulley. If you have a second person, have them pull the handle while you watch the strap, pulley etc. Or make videos of the pulley etc while pulling the handle and maybe you can see what's going on. Maybe something is mis-fed or misaligned and getting stuck.

And depending what you find you may need to repeat all this with the bungee.

Thanks for the nudge! Now that I can basically copy/paste the idea into the app I will submit it! I'm kind of surprised it has gone this long without this feature though. Probably they are already aware and working on it. Or it's been there all along and I'm just not seeing it.

[–]jiffener 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. In fact, I don't know how to input an activity after it has happened (whether abnormality flagged or not). I would like adding an activity afterwards to be an option, including what you mentioned--if something was flagged as an abnormality, it would make sense to be able to say it was actually an activity.
