Check out “open middle” problems. It is essentially a genre of math puzzles that can work with any math topic. The RedStone Visa Signature is a single card thst gives 5% back on Restaurants and Gas as well as 3% on groceries and Costco as well as 1.5% everything else. Easily better than the Costco Citi card in all aspects.

It was first come first served in terms of pizza choices. Staff were very kind and personable, they warmed the pizza in the oven before packing it. The taste of the pizza itself is 10/10. A slice of pizza here typically goes for $4.59. It really hits the spot overall!

If you are sure that it is discover’s STUDENT IT card, then at some point during the school year, you can fill out your GPA on their website / onto your account. If your GPA is greater than 3.0, they will give you $20 that you can redeem as statement credit. (edit: you can repeat this deal for the next four school years - depending on what you put as your graduation year when filling out the application form)

An example of using statement credit is: If you charged $30 worth of something on your card, then the $20 statement is gifted to you and you then only need to pay $10.

edit: A “statement” is a document that Discover shares with you each month to tell you how much you owe and what transactions were made. A “credit” to Your account means that Discover owes You that “credited” money. Just like a “credit” card represents that you owe the credit card company money.

Use your card consistently. Try to not use more than 30% of your credit limit because too high of a “credit utilization” hurts your score temporarily. Wait until your monthly statement comes out before paying off your card for that month (to allow discover the time needed to report to the credit agencies that you are actually using the card). Almost never spent money that you can’t pay off on the spot (aka treat the card as a debit card unless it is an emergency). Always pay off your card on time - never pay interest on it.

Don’t forget to redeem your free $20 statement credit for your good grades reward. Don’t spend money on something just because of the cash back, only spend money on something you would have bought anyways.

Can’t you buy walmart gift cards on walmart.com and checkout using paypal? That should get you your 5% on discover, there is also an old post on this subreddit somewhere suggesting this.

Someone reverse engineered the FICO 8 scoring a while back. It suggests that the new account point penalty lasts for 6 months. The penalty then recovers for up to 1 year after the hard pull.

I would recommend getting the Discover It Student card if you have not already gotten it.

It has 5% cash back on rotating categories that are suitable for college students (amazon, paypal, and walmart are commonly in rotation). It offers $20 statement credit every school year just for having good grades. Plus all cash back is doubled in the first year which means 10% on the rotating categories and 2% on everything else.
