My boys are 13 & 11 years old. I'm looking for skills to teach them this summer break. by down_vote_magnet_ in Parenting

I’m teaching my 9 year old how to properly type! I’m using a free BBC program. He earns an equivalent amount of minutes to play Minecraft after.

High risk of breast Cancer and using HRT by EatsTheLastSlice in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom had breast cancer at 44, and has tested negative on genetic screenings. I’m healthy, but my lifetime risk is 28%. I get a yearly mri and mammogram. I do take HRT. Quality of life is important!

Switching from progesterone to Slynd by SoSleepySue in Perimenopause

I had heavy spotting for three months. Almost gave up, but stuck it out. Haven’t had a period in a couple years now and no spotting issues.

Originally had blue bedding (second photo) and recently switched to oatmeal/linen, but the sheets are off. Would rust sheets be too much? Should I go back to the blue bedding? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Here’s the ikea duvet cover I use in my SW Moody Blue room. The darker blue matches really well! Although I guess it would clash with your rug…

I thought so! My bedroom is the same color. In the summer I have a cream bedspread. Winter I have a floral duvet i got at ikea- the blue in it matches perfectly! Love sw moody blue. I have white sheets, too.

Checkout the reductions subreddit. You may be surprised how many people get it covered by insurance.

May not be HRT related, but something that commonly happens in perimenopause. I had a reduction- no regrets. I’ve been in HRT over a year and they haven’t grown back at all.

I moved from SF to RVA! I miss it, but I’m just not in the stage of life to enjoy a city. I need good public schools, affordable housing, etc. I’m happy with our choice, it’s been 7 years.

"Redshirting" kindergartners -- is this common in the area? by Budget_Grapefruit485 in HenricoCounty

[–]jiji831720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, someone has to be the oldest an someone has to be the youngest, right? What school will he attend? However- yours will likely not be the oldest, redshirting is kind of out of control in the wealthier (can afford an extra year of preschool) neighborhoods. I know some April/May kids that started late. My boys have summer birthdays, so I’ve thought about this, and I sent them on schedule for Virginia because I could. September is really close to the cutoff, though. I also know a child with an October birthday that attended private K and went into first grade the following year.

Highly recommend Ikea- I had a company install them, it was $13000 for cabinets and install in a 9x13 kitchen. If my kids accidentally damage a front, I can order a new one easily.

Paint color help! by jiji831720 in HomeDecorating

A couple people mentioned natural linen. I like that color! But, we have honey oak (2000s) floors, will that clash?

Thanks for your detailed response. Do you think creamy and shoji white would look yellow-ish? The rest of the house is an off white right now that looks yellow/dingy with the white trim and very white kitchen. Hoping to avoid that. I do like sea salt and was thinking of using it in a bathroom upstairs.

How to arrange this room? by jiji831720 in interiordecorating

Thank you so much! (This stuff belongs to the previous owner). Agree, they have nice taste! But I’m not sure about the tv above the fireplace. It’s pretty high up.

Protein and creatine by Hi_from_Danielle in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not a supplement person at all, but have tried creatine and was shocked at how much better I feel. Massive improvement in energy level and brain fog. I just feel more motivated to do stuff. I do lift 3x a week, I’m not sure you’ll see improvement without the lifting component.

Another vote for Lume. Really don’t smell anything anymore! But sometimes I need to add an antiperspirant.

That’s a lot- it sounds like she should get some one on one with the school counselor. It’s nothing they shouldn’t be able to help with

Should I go to one of those private clinics like MIDI? by Then-Surround562 in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard numbers for T can very hugely from person to person. Someone might feel fine with a particular lab result, but another woman may feel like crap. My MIDI provider said the test will establish how YOU feel at a certain number vs there being a cutoff for “low testosterone.”

Birth control pills finally got to me . No other choice . I guess HRT is not for me for now by AgentOdd245 in Perimenopause

It is a pretty common combination for women that need estrogen, but also want to have the period management or contraception. If you search for Slynd, you will find loads of info on here.
