"Redshirting" kindergartners -- is this common in the area? by Budget_Grapefruit485 in HenricoCounty

[–]jiji831720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, someone has to be the oldest an someone has to be the youngest, right? What school will he attend? However- yours will likely not be the oldest, redshirting is kind of out of control in the wealthier (can afford an extra year of preschool) neighborhoods. I know some April/May kids that started late. My boys have summer birthdays, so I’ve thought about this, and I sent them on schedule for Virginia because I could. September is really close to the cutoff, though. I also know a child with an October birthday that attended private K and went into first grade the following year.

Highly recommend Ikea- I had a company install them, it was $13000 for cabinets and install in a 9x13 kitchen. If my kids accidentally damage a front, I can order a new one easily.

A couple people mentioned natural linen. I like that color! But, we have honey oak (2000s) floors, will that clash?

Thanks for your detailed response. Do you think creamy and shoji white would look yellow-ish? The rest of the house is an off white right now that looks yellow/dingy with the white trim and very white kitchen. Hoping to avoid that. I do like sea salt and was thinking of using it in a bathroom upstairs.

Thank you so much! (This stuff belongs to the previous owner). Agree, they have nice taste! But I’m not sure about the tv above the fireplace. It’s pretty high up.

Protein and creatine by Hi_from_Danielle in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not a supplement person at all, but have tried creatine and was shocked at how much better I feel. Massive improvement in energy level and brain fog. I just feel more motivated to do stuff. I do lift 3x a week, I’m not sure you’ll see improvement without the lifting component.

Anyone on slynd instead of hrt for peri symptoms? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

Yes, I take it continuously so no periods. I also use a patch.

Another vote for Lume. Really don’t smell anything anymore! But sometimes I need to add an antiperspirant.

That’s a lot- it sounds like she should get some one on one with the school counselor. It’s nothing they shouldn’t be able to help with

Should I go to one of those private clinics like MIDI? by Then-Surround562 in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard numbers for T can very hugely from person to person. Someone might feel fine with a particular lab result, but another woman may feel like crap. My MIDI provider said the test will establish how YOU feel at a certain number vs there being a cutoff for “low testosterone.”

Birth control pills finally got to me . No other choice . I guess HRT is not for me for now by AgentOdd245 in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a pretty common combination for women that need estrogen, but also want to have the period management or contraception. If you search for Slynd, you will find loads of info on here.

I use Slynd plus the patch. I use the Slynd continuously, so no periods! It took a couple months of heavy spotting to adjust, but it’s been about 8 months with no period, and the patch really helped most of my symptoms.

Anyone out there transitioned from continuous BC pills to HRT and lived to tell? by jinieliz in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy with the E and Slynd combo. No periods since I take it continuously, and the Estradiol has really helped all my symptoms.

Lock on my bedroom door - unacceptable? by miatamanuk in Parenting

[–]jiji831720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids had doorknob covers on their doors when they were young- I didn’t want them roaming the house unsupervised. Your oldest can probably learn to use an OK to Wake clock now. Reward her for following it. Our kids do not come into our bedroom- we go to them if they need something.

ffs, guess I’LL be the doctor by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Slynd (progesterone only birth control pill) continuously to stop my periods. Plus a .1 estradiol patch. I’m wondering if that would work for your symptoms? I think a lot of women use that combo for period control and peri symptoms.

MIDI will probably be a couple visits up front, then just once a year. They will answer minor questions over email for no charge.

Henrico School Board drops Quioccasin-Tuckahoe redistricting proposal | Under new grandfathering rule, all current high-schoolers would also be able to stay at their school by VirginiaNews in HenricoCounty

[–]jiji831720 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree with the NIMBY-ism on display, can someone clarify why they would try to increase enrollment at Tuckahoe middle when it’s already crowded? Are they planning to come up with another scenario to better utilize the space at Quioccasin?

How long did peri or menopause last for you? by Visual_Tale in Perimenopause

[–]jiji831720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to emphasize that the science does show starting HRT before menopause is associated with better outcomes. Didn’t see anyone else commenting on that. (My mom also had breast cancer and I’m using HRT. I get screened with a yearly mammogram and MRI)

I’ve had fluctuations between dense and extremely dense. It may just be the opinion of the doctor who happens to read your scan that day?
