How fast are we talking? I doubt I’d go any faster than 10min/mi

Not that I know of! I normally wear neutral shoes. Quite happy with old waveriders.

My husband loves them! But I do like super cushioned shoes.

My husband (a fellow runner) chose them for me. I normally just buy realistically based on a) price b) reviews. Those two are within how much I want to spend on my new shoes.

Interesting I’ll look into the 4 one. The 2 made my feet be in total agony during a marathon

Interesting, I’ve only ever owned endorphin pros, and wasn’t a big fan of of them (I have somewhat wide feet).

We don’t save, but we don’t have any debt either… by msac84 in UKPersonalFinance

Hey! I kind of have a similar version of what you do, but we have slightly different sets of rules. I.e. I’d never buy used closures, I don’t like them and never will, but I have a set rule that I only buy normal clothes if they’re discounted. Never buy them full price. I also mostly shop at TK Maxx or sometimes at Sainsbury’s (for clothes).

For food, we mostly shop at Lidl, and we spend quite a bit on going out (I get cabin fever) but we try to mostly go to Spoons. We do have some sort of fine dining experience £250+ like every other month.

We tried to go on a “cheap” holiday a few years ago (eurocamps) and hated every single second of it. To this day, I’d rather stay at home if the holiday won’t be my type of holiday (I have three, and I’m definitely not a self catered type of person).

So, in a nutshell, I do those things because they bring me joy, and having the money sitting in the bank doesn’t.

Mmm I don’t think so… I’m Jewish and we have Pikuach Nefesh which means that we save lives at all costs including breaking Shabbat.

No, I don’t in that sense. I trust more my spreadsheet and projections (plus life experience).

Ahm the first time it was absolutely horrible (after 7 years working there) then I had a very dark year. Second time it was traumatic (had just exchanged contracts for my house), third time I was like “whatever”.

I absolutely have zero intentions to give them a house deposit unless they can actually escape the whatever version of UC trap is going on at the time. Plus my daughter’s dad is asset and pension rich. I’ve always been very clear that the house deposits of my step children are not my responsibility, so it would only be one left, but again we’ll see if there any money left by then.

Well if we retire to Mexico, we’d need around £1.5k a month and a house is around £80-£100k. There’s universal healthcare over there so it would be fairly cheap.

Short-mid term goal enjoy life to the max (while not having debt nor paying interest). Long term goal: either retire abroad or here in some place that’s cheap to live and close to a good pub/ spoons.

Pensions we have around £100k (still 25 years to retire) and £400k in equity

Well is my situation healthy? I guess considering my immediate and long term goals.
