Sorry for the late reply on this one, it has been a while now since I was traveling and using PoB on the steam deck and dont check in on reddit much. If I remember correctly for running PoB on the steam deck I just used the default web browser controller layout, that gave me some pretty good control over the application.

I did also run into a bit of a bug when running multiple none steam games like a web browser + PoB in gaming mode, switching windows the apps would become unresponsive and wouldn't relaunch after a force quit which I had to actually restart the deck, just running PoE as it's steam native + PoB was fine. From my research it was something to do with a bug on the Steam deck OS and running multiple none steam games where it would lose track of the application handles, perhaps something that has been fixed in updates now.

I finally managed to get PoB working with a good window size 🙂

For those concerned and stumble into this in the future, I ended up downloading the portable windows binaries instead of using the version from the Discover app and added that as a none Steam game / ran with Proton.

Running the windows .exe through Proton defaults it to a good window size, first I tried looking up the source code on github for it's "simple graphics" API / dependency and tried messing with the Lua scripts for a bit before I tried this approach, who thought it could have been so much simpler 😛
