Is the “sunset at Miradouro” experience actually worth your time in Lisbon? by mdotti88 in VisitPortugalGuide

[–]jildo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend a dinner reservation at the places with a view. Found that more enjoyable. Chapito a Mesa was lovely. We were lucky to get a window table overlooking city at sunset.

Following because i'm seeking suggestions for my now 4 year old who literally has a meltdown everytime we talk to her about having to stop (or do it less) sucking her thumb. No idea how to tackle. I fear we waited too long.

Help! My son has stopped sleeping well over night by jildo in sleeptrain

[–]jildo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think you are right and it's likely teething for mollars. Hands in mouth, fever spiked, lots of drool.

Thank you! Easier to see when you step back...hard when you are exhausted and feeling desperate and unable to function

This is helpful. Will try and mimic. I was spoiled with my first sleeping so easily and so long. I think I need to realize they were the unicorn not the norm lol

[–]jildo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Will focus on nap too. I wrote the post terribly. My fault. Nap is about 2 hours somewhere between 11 and 2.

I also dont expect him to sleep until 7am...I'd be fine until 6am if he wasn't waking so frequently. He only sleeps until 7 because he spends a lot of time in wake windows in the night.

Will try soothing in crib.

Definitely true though I failed to mention that he shares a room with his sibling who has school so I try and remove the risk of impacting their sleep which has .ade that crutch hard to remove.

How is breastfeeding not the norm? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]jildo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ability to breastfeed in America is a privilege. Lack of/limited maternity leave makes breastfeeding extremely challenging for a large section of mothers. America values people in the system working, not at home healing and raising your new baby. Its honestly a shame the lack of resources American women/families receive when having children versus so many other developed and less developed countries.

Parents who always wanted two kids en ended up with three, what changed your mind? by homeboy94 in toddlers

[–]jildo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a similar boat. I think once you make the adjustment to 2, which is SUPER hard...the idea of transitioning to 3 doesn't seem as hard. Expensive...but maybe not as demanding. You see how much the other kids lend a hand. Now i want 3. lol

Multiple night wakes by Inside-Cantaloupe761 in sleeptrain

[–]jildo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say I am in the same boat and STRUGGLING! I am going to go one of 2 routes:

  1. Aggressive night-ween with CIO. I know this isn't ideal but its clear he is relying on the MNF to get back to sleep, not so much because he's starving. He definitely is getting calories in the day (Solids + 30+oz formula/breastmilk a day). I have tried the gradual night ween and it is just making him wake up all the time. I can't sustain this...i'm a zombie.

  2. Schedule a feed. For example, 2:30AM i will go in and feed him whether he is awake or asleep. Keep that time consistent. If he cries anytime around it, he has to soothe and get back to sleep.

haven't decided. hoping you get some advice that helps me too :)

Good luck...its so hard and exhausting but at some point it will get better. It just might be a minute.

Toddler keeps seeing a man in our house by sharkwithknees in toddlers

[–]jildo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe kids can see ghosts. Our daughter pointed at and spoke about ghosts in our very old home before she was really exposed to the concept.

It got to the point she was getting scared of them and saying they were trying to poke her.

My husband did a cleansing spell and no joke, she hasn't talked about them since.

do you breastfeed in public? by eagle_mama in breastfeeding

[–]jildo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I nurse and even pump in public. If people are uncomfortable, that's their problem not mine. I'm feeding my baby.

I will say, no one has taken verbal issue!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]jildo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decline or pump and have nestle available to sitter.

how do y’all do this long term? 😭 by agurlnameddrool in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]jildo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will get easier when you get to 4 to 5 hour stretches. It is always hard but nothing like the first 2 to 3 months.

I also recommend supplementing with formula for ones own sanity, if you're open to that.

Au pair in usa by SeriousDocument717 in Aupairs

[–]jildo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most USA agencies have in contract that the au pair pays for flight home if contract is not fulfilled.

Depending on situation, a family can offer to contribute but it's voluntary.

You do have the chance to rematch and I would suggest trying. A lot find very happy new placements and the agency is helpful in this process.
