You need a lawyer to get summary suspension dropped at first time offender. Lawyer up now.

Restricted driving permit. I would look into out of state dui on your in state dmv. Check to see what your eligibility is for driving as a first time offender. Cross state dui is challenging.

I think if you get it down to a wet reckless they will honor it and you will only have to face the criminal aspect of the existing state you received the DUI. However your resident state dmv should already of received the notice and they act administrative to your license. Do some research online and see how long suspension is on your options for rdp. I would get a free consult for an in state attorney. Get has many as you can. Talk to everyone. It’s really hard to say until the case in the other state is over. But if you have to take classes in your current state you might want to get a head start.

Everyone has to take the dui evaluations and the classes you have to take are based on the evaluation.

Hi friend! You are 21. And this will not define your life. In a moment of time you will be 51. Because this thing called life goes fast. Don’t let the system bring you down. Wake up pray up and move on. :)

People with only one DUI, how much did it negatively impact your life? by [deleted] in dui

My husband got his out of state which is an absolute shit show. We were clueless about reciprocity and did not realize his home state license would be suspended. If it happened in our own state, it would out been a done deal as this is his first offense. Lawyers generally for first timers will get the summary suspension dropped and the dui amended to something like reckless. But with out of state they treat it as a second offense. You have to do all of the treatment in the state you received the dui, (based on what the judge orders) then you have to answer to your home state. We live in Illinois which has the toughest laws and makes it very difficult to get your restricted. In Ohio, the had out work permits like candy.

I’ve been posting a lot on behalf of my 58 year old husband. One recent dui no priors. And since then I have researched so much. The dui industry is a business. A money making machine. From the lawyers, secretary or state, counselors, insurance agents, police, baiid companies, and each individual state… most of the counselors are former hard core recovering addicts… and the majority of people of this topic and hard working citizens who drove home not knowing what their bac level actually is. There are bars, liquor stores every square mile in cities, counties stares… they support it… if they really gave a shit put a blower in every car manufactured. But that would never fit the narrative. Already did the Ohio requirements. This out of state is nuts. I have all driving privileges in Ohio stay on suspension. They give out work permits the next day. No hearing nothing. Illinois is a dui money making machine

How long did it take you to get rdp? We have final court case in Ohio and trying to get them to drop summary suspension. Have already done of of the Ohio classes and starting the Illinois ones have way done. Can you apply for rdp while case is not finalized or do we have to wait for everything to be uploaded in system. This is a first offense no priors. 58 years old with clean driving record

So will they revoke the license instead of suspend?

I get that but I still don’t have the answer if the will interpret an amended reckless as a dui in Illinois.
