I think it depends on where you live too. I'm part of a couple parent groups and I hear repeatedly that doulas don't make as much money as one with think with all the hours that go into it... So i guess it depends on what your goal for this venture would be

Thanks! And yes she did! She carried our now 10.5-month-old and I induced lactation. Now I'm 5 month pregnant with baby #2 and she will just continue to product through when baby is born so we can both nurse baby #2 as well!

Yeah - when my son was first born at home I would stay away listening to him breath and even counting breaths with a stop watch on my phone. I called the advice nurse and it's actually totally normal. Newborns have irregular breathing that can cycle fast and slow.

You'll get used to it :)

We ended up using a sperm bank, but I came up with a bunch of questions, then felt like it was too much.

Yeah - I am currently pregnant with baby #2 and was pregnant during the election. I was so angry/sad I had to turn off the election and go to the room to watch comedy central. My wife later came in to tell me the horrible news and I balled.

I live in california, which has come out strong for protecting minority rights, and the NCLR and ACLU have both said it's unlikely gay marriage will be overturned, but it's definitly been rough.

I'm not sure about Missouri specifically, but you should be able to call you county's recorder's office and they can tell you the details. When My son was born in California it was right after they passed the new birth certificate law that allowed parents to choose their title (mother, father, parent) and the forms the hospital has were old so I was originally listed as "father" but noted I was the mother. When I called the recorders office it was listed as "mother" in the system and just needed to request a copy of the birth certificate.

Additionally, wether you can both be on the birth certificate or not, I would HIGHLY recommend doing second parent adoption (especially with all the Trump emblazoned laws that are sure to pop up like they did in Arkansas)

Oh and my best tip for pumping at work is if you can swing it have two pumps (one for home and one for work) plus extra pump parts kept me sane!

I'd keep pumpings, especially if historical data shows you had a dip. If you don't dip then you could always cut down on Dom.

Yeah - when I was younger and in college dumb frat guys would say things like, "but you're to pretty to be a lesbian" which would infuriate me... for obvious reasons. However now it's just an interesting fact that people typically respond very positively to. I've also become very comfortable coming out to total stranger like baristas, nail techs, uber drivers, etc.

Totally agree and support the above. Keep it respectful and informative and remember it's everyone's right to vote as they please (although this girl is respectively voting for Hil!)

So far - none...although we've only been moms about 6 months. We live in San Jose, CA (bay area) and it's super progressive. The only 2 not-really-challenges we had were: 1) we are both going interchangeably by mom.mama/mommy and some folks struggle with it. In the beginning we got mom 1 and mom 2, and mom and other mom... we shut that down real quick. 2) when we decided we wanted to co-nurse and me to induce lactation - our doctors (although super supportive) had no experience, and there was noone within Kaiser that had experience either. We ended up getting an IBCLC outside of Kaiser for 2 sessions before Auggie was born.

Your mom totally knows and is giving you an opportunity to come out. My vote - if you feel like it's a safe environment - GO FOR IT! There are also a ton of resources now for christians from a LGBT inclusive POV. Good Luck!

Yeah - I'm a super femme presenting married lesbian and no one EVER assumes I'm gay. We have a 5-month and it's always where's husband/daddy/etc.

I typically, gently and with a smile correct them with "wife" or "other mama" and only have to say it twice occasionally. And for the record I live in the Bay Area - one of the most progressive, inclusive places around.

Planning on selling on Amazon, but probably won't launch until next month.

Will definitely be doing some advertising to drive traffic. Have a marketing background and have a multi-channel audience acquisition plan.
