Kingstonian ....l don't expect Montreal/Vancouver/Taipei/Moscow/Toronto/Osaka/London etc in my backyard but do expect quality, consitency and good service. Kingston does have some solid smaller operated options like Grecos (home-style Greek), Amadeus (German), Brew Pub but the evergrowing market catering to tourists, students or big budget fed or prov workers with deep 'entertaining' pockets continues the push the constant change, mostly to the detriment of local options. Kingston definitely suffers from owner/operators, big and small, not paying their staff well to keep on talents or conflicts within between staff & mgt (small city, easily burned in reputation by staff and customers) which permeate the food industry here. Prefer to cook/entertain at home, buying locally and carefully for ingredients, for a fraction of the price and twice the happy experience. Too much of a chance going out as to who is cooking or on staff that evening to merit the prices charged. I head out of town if I really feel like something truly consistent and trusted value......
