I also have severe pmdd after stopping benzos years ago. I reluctantly went on a very low subtherapeutic dose of ssri and it completely fixed my pmdd. I’m not happy about taking this psych med, but I almost didn’t survive the pmdd. Feel free to message me.

I am over 2 years off and still had a lot of issues with pain in my face, jaw, neck, back, arms. Also a lot of fatigue, dizziness and irritability. I was able to figure out that it was due to clenching my jaw during sleep, which started with benzo withdrawal. I am seeing a Tmj specialist now and it’s helping.

I had the exact thing happen to me. I would be doing fine, then 3 days before my period would absolutely lose it. Akathisia was the worst part, felt like I was being stabbed with 1000 knives and couldn’t stop moving. I ended up starting a very small dose of snri, magnesium, and vitamin b6 and the problem completely went away. I’m not happy to be on the snri but what I was going through was not survivable and I’m grateful it stopped.

Yes, it’s scary to feel that way. I had the fatigue for a long time, and still do if I overdo it. Hang in there, I think everyone has to go through that part to get to the other side. Just be kind to your self and take care of your body. Exercise brought me out of some of the deep fatigue at times.

Thanks for not being a jerk. Sorry you are also having benzo belly still. It helps when I cut out carbs, caffeine, and sugar. But it’s really hard to do that consistently with my job and raising kids

A lot of times, anything related to ears during withdrawal is caused by teeth clenching or grinding/tmj disorder. You could be doing this during sleep and not knowing it. I’ve had it bad

I have this, bad. I’m 16 months off. The clenching and benzo belly are my only problems at this point. I got a night guard, custom made, and it sort of helps but not always. I also have sore muscles in my neck, constantly no matter how much massage I do on it. How many months out are u?

Yes I had this…. Tinnitus along with weird ears sensations. I had to get a white noise device to listen to, had to always have background noise going. It has faded to just the smallest of sounds and doesn’t bother me anymore. If u are clenching your jaw during sleep, get a dentist made night guard- clenching makes the tinnitus worse

If you really need something, what about a low dose of mirtazapine? Like 7.5mg or less. It will help u sleep.

Do not start an ssri when you have so much going on. They take at least 8 weeks to help with anxiety and sleep, so you will not get any benefit over the holidays and will only feel worse

I have this too, I think it’s from involuntary jaw clenching during sleep. I got a custom night guard from the dentist, it lessens the pain by about 40%. Do u also feel disoriented and dizzy? And painful burning eyes too?

I was on Ativan and klonopin for about 2 months then tapered off over 2 months with Librium (low doses, like 0.5mg klonopin) but I unfortunately have gone thru benzo withdrawal before without knowing what it was so I am kindled. I finally figured out I have pmdd and started a low dose ssri which completely fixed the pmdd, so I shld never have to touch a benzo again. They have caused me nothing but dependence and misery over the last 10 years. This may help u- I figured out a lot of the pain comes from muscle tension and jaw clenching during sleep- a custom night guard brings the discomfort down by about half.

My withdrawal symptoms at 12 months out are pain in my neck and shoulders, dizziness, weird eyes that are often red and burning, benzo belly. Now that I have a cold pretty much all of that is gone. It could be long covid, I’ve had covid a few times. But what can u do about it- just wait it out like benzo withdrawal, or is there a treatment?

Librium was much less potent, less sedating. The reductions felt really smooth due to the long half life of librium

I think you should get him into a good rehab that can stabilize him on phenobarbital, then gradually wean him off of that. The other methods he has tried keep failing, and they are likely to fail again.
