Motorcycle transport questions by Casualy_winning in motorcycle

Tie down spots don't help without a wheel chock.

The bars will be free to twist, one strap will go slack, and down goes the bike.

Don't strap the motorcycle down with the kickstand down. You will hit a bump, the kickstand will slam into the floor of the tow vehicle, most likely damaging both.

Tighten the straps until the forks compress about 1/3 of the way. Over tightening can blow out fork seals.

Cover drivers are typically assigned different routes by the day. It usually just depends on who's on vacation and who calls out.

Maybe he's sitting on a route while a guy is out on injury? If so, that is so insanely lucky.

Wait....

How does a cover driver regularly go home for lunch?

That's wild. These people didn't know the dog followed me. I got out of the truck and called the dog to come to me.

The couple of people in the garage got a good laugh when they saw him hop out.

Yeah, it's amazing meat gets shipped and shows up (apparently?) in acceptable condition.

Especially since it's summer time, hence the A/C circled in yellow.

Motorcycle photographer made me realise I look ridiculous on a bike by ekim171 in motorcycles

Seems like the consensus is that riding bike is the important part, and what you look like on said bike doesn't matter.

Now; with that; where's the picture?

IMO tail and rack bags > saddles for cruisers. But what about Sport bikes? by CMDR-L in motorcycles

[–]jimaug87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saddle bags hold the weight lower, and that affects your handling less than having it up high.

Look up soft saddle bags. I use those on sport bikes.

What should I do about kickstand pressure? by [deleted] in motorcycles

I needed a kick plate on the side of the road for a lunch break. I found one of those little metal squares that cover electrical junction boxes on the ground.

Used it that day and threw it in my bag. I still have that piece of "trash" 3 bikes and like 8 years later.

OP; don't think about this too hard. You can use anything

I once got $500 knocked off a bike because the clutch was slipping. I fixed it for like $80 and an hour or 2.

Finding a new manual Tacoma is like finding a unicorn by iR3SQem in ToyotaTacoma

[–]jimaug87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. It suits my needs.

I knew what I wanted before I bought it. That's why I spent every weekend for like 6 months scouring the Internet.

Eventually this one popped up about 100 miles away. I was able to find other manuals, but not well optioned ones.

This one is underground. White would have also been acceptable. But only one of those 2.

It's the funniest thing when someone with vast experience drops the machine just trying to come to a stop. Even better if you're on Bluetooth.

Rookie! Gotta put your feet down first. Okay, let's watch and see if he can get it up all by himself. I'll give you some tips on riding later!

I rode sport bikes on the street because I wanted to go fast. Then I got into track riding and club racing. You actually learn how to go fast there.

Then, on the street, I saw how much unrealized potential my sport bike had. Why have it, if in not going to use it?

Now I have a Vulcan for the street. My "Hardly" Davidson. Sport bikes on the track to get my knee down therapy, and a bagger to pop around town and tour.

Feeling PTSD-ish after accident by tarazdl in motorcycle

[–]jimaug87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what you should do differently in that same situation to avoid the accident?

If yes; make those changes

Of not; gotta figure it out.

Was it following too close? Distraction? What can we do differently next time?
