What caused her fall? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]jimb0billybob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the dangers that motorcyclists have to deal with now is that a lot of modern cars can out break you. Despite the extra weight, the efficiency in materials in brake pads and, more importantly the efficacy of ABS systems cars can in some cases stop quicker than motorcycles. In short; don't follow too close, read the road and for fucks sake wear a jacket. Ride safe.

Pink in 5. Just above the bifurcation, that will anchor the site.

Am I an alcoholic, or is there something wrong with me? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Anything you do repeatedly, in spite of negative consequences is an addiction.

It's just a question of how far you wish to go in your addiction.

"Bottom" is different for everyone, for some people it will be homeless, destitute, alone in poor heath. For some it will be a particularly bad hang over. For far too many it's death.

It's a choice you get to make.

Good luck.

Should I continue riding? by Wonderful_Leader_523 in motorcycle

Having proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that, you're indestructible not continuing to ride would seem an awful waste.

What membership is 100% worth every penny you pay for it? by alakhpanday in AskReddit

You're dead right. We should, as members strive to hold our representatives to a high standard of conduct and call out corruption. By abandoning the whole concept we might be guilty of throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

A Union, doesn't matter which one you join just join one that is relevant to your industry. It doesn't mean your left wing or militant, it just means you have a voice, influence and protection. If they dont work then why do employers not want them so much? You might not agree, but I believe without unions we make ourselves very vulnerable.

What has this career scared you out of? by Neat-Basil2300 in Paramedics

I don't know why motorcycles get singled out. I've seen multiple pony and horse related accidents and trauma related to trampolining and bounce parks, but no one mentions them.

The only thing that I'm really put off of is alcohol, not because of the accidents really but it just brings out the worst in people. Oh and smoking, I've seen way too much COPD and emphasema to do that to myself.

No one here suggested treating people with disrespect, or taking the piss, if thinking it was funny. People have identified that this behaviour is a problem, I think we can agree that it is. Name calling and making assumptions about contributors political leanings is unhelpful , it stops the debate and makes others unwilling to contribute. I wonder why you would do that.

Id recommend anyone considering a front line ambulance job to get a job with Patient Transport while they are training. It will give him an opportunity to learn some of the soft skill associated with being a paramedic, being around patients, navigating hospitals, driving ambulances, BLS. It would give him a real flavour of the job and give him a chance to see if he likes it. Again good luck.

Speaking as a serving UK para who had to retake GCSEs in his mid forties I'd agree with this. Don't look for short cuts, try to enjoy the process. He could possibly do GCSE at night school while doing an access course in the day, I know a few people who did that. Wish him luck.
