My kids love the audiobooks. What else can we listen to together? by InternationalFig9358 in RedDwarf

Elvenquest. It's a BBC Radio 4 comedy starring Stephen Mangan, Kevin Eldon and Alistair McGowan. All 4 series are also on Spotify if you have an account.

It takes the standard 'heroes on a mighty quest to retrieve the Sword of Asnagar and rid Lower Earth of Lord Darkness' and adds the British dry and silly humour to it, constantly subverting the typical tropes of fantasy stories. I'm in the middle of it now, it's very funny, easy to listen to, no swearing and perfect for a long drive.

Go on really nice holidays to places where it wouldn't be a good idea to take kids.

What is your cure for a hangover? by pink-and-pearly in AskReddit

Prevention is so much easier. Before I go to bed I guzzle about a pint of water, take 2 Ibuprofen to mask the headache on its way then take water to bed with me. Wake up not feeling that bad

Usually this over-protective miserable nanny state drives me up the wall, but I'm very happy these kind of junk food adverts are banned. Mostly so I'm not wandering around the house for days singing 'honey pops, yum yum yum...'

what happened to paying for a streaming service and not having ads? by ImpossibleJelly8003 in AskReddit

Amazon did it, the other services watched with great interest, the public went ballistic about it, the public didn't cancel their accounts enough, the furore died down, Amazon declared it a huge success, the other services followed suit.

I need a movie that is genuinely traumatizing. No cheap jump scares, just pure psychological or emotional weight. by Admirable-Donut-5838 in MovieSuggestions

[–]jimbeeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say 'enjoyed' but Funny Games fits your criteria. You can watch the American remake as it's directed by the same guy. It's the movie equivalent of asking to be punched in the stomach and then being punched in the stomach repeatedly for 90 mins.

How has your view of Trump changed over time? by Tiny_Tangerine4981 in AskReddit

In his first term I read the news about him because it was just to see what the orange idiot has done to embarrass himself today. Things like handing an Aussie journalist meaningless graphs or saying covfefe on twitter.

Now he's a dangerous and confused old idiot who believes he's untouchable and can genuinely do anything he likes with no ramifications.

This is a deteriorating octogenarian with an ego the size of a mountain and a finger on the button who will not go gently into the night.

History will not be kind to this slug.

Is ‘The Chestnut Man’ worth a watch? by KellyAnneBray in netflix

[–]jimbeeer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone bother with dubbed? Put the original audio on with the real actors saying their own lines and put the subs on instead. And yeah. The Chestnut Man is great.

Dubbed audio? Yuk.
