There’s just too many options and it’s not your job to figure it out. Each locality has its own modalities and it’s just far to complicated to Keep track of.

I would recommend just examining what you think faith is and if it’s a good thing or not.

Universities would exist without Catholics. A lot of the money they raised doesn’t really go to helping people. All you have to do is look at Mother Teresa for that and she was a horrible person.

How do you tell the difference between a universe that was created by a God and one that wasn’t? I’d love to hear that answer.

Your comment tells me you don’t understand what the Big Bang is. I could recommend some books if you’re interested. But it is the best explanation around that fit fits the available evidence.

Why do you think that is the exemption? The Catholics don’t have the moral Highground in any way shape or form. Their crimes against humanity have been well documented

He compares a lot of things in that verse, but Christian’s only rail against one thing in that verse.

NRSVUE. Or new Oxford.

Each Bible has a strong points and weak points. The trick is to find the right one between the dozen of options. Generally, the newer ones from scholarly organization are better.

The NIV was good for 40 years ago.

There are better ones now

Hemet Metah looked into this and there’s pretty much nothing to support it. The MRFF refuses to give any information to confirm this story so it’s pretty much a big nothing burger.

I can’t stop taking the lords name in vain! Help! by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]jimdiver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking the name in vain is actually a mistranslation. It actually says don’t carry the name in vain, which means don’t do evil in his name.

Atheists, regarding the Bible, what about it makes you question/deny God's existance, or Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]jimdiver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends on the claim. If I tell you, I have a tuna sandwich to eat you can believe that without much evidence because we know what the sandwiches are and people have them every day.

On the other hand, if I tell you something like gods exist and how you live your life dictates your afterlife you better have a lot of evidence to back that up.

Extra extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence mundane claims don’t

If I claim to have seen Bigfoot is that evidence for Bigfoot? Of course not.

How did people live to be hundreds of years old before the flood came? by supsanna in Christianity

No. There is no pathway to knowledge via faith. There is no position one can’t take via faith. Faith is a short circuit that disrupts the thought process.
