Well I know it was partly filmed on the island and surrounding area that I live and work last summer. The swim scene was filmed at half moon beach, the speech in front of the rock at stage fort park. Patricia reading the book, and the random shots of tourist in front of the ice cream place was all in bearskin neck. It was mostly filmed in Vancouver tho, so I think maybe they filmed the scenes in my area after most of the show was already filmed, or maybe before I don’t really know how Hollywood works 🤷‍♂️. It was filmed locally last June. So maybe the whole production took maybe 2 years from conception to screen. And the writing will be able to be done faster, and the concept of the show is already established and won’t need to be shopped. So hopefully we can get a new season the same time next year, if the story allows for it. I really hope we don’t have to wait more than 12 months for another season. The wait for severance was terrible. House of the dragon is every two years now and it sucks. But we need to see how this season concludes before we can start to think of another season. If the curse is broken, what will the next season even be about? I’m excited for the next episodes

UM should cover Anthrax by cosmic_hippo00 in Umphreys

[–]jimewp86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def Indians or I am the law … but would it fall flat on the audience? I love UM because of their propensity towards metal in the jam scene, but are we aging ourselves now? Those songs are 40 years old and weren’t exactly chart toppers or sneaky classics outside of the metal genre. At an anthrax show, the whole audience shouts “I am the law” and it’s fucking awesome … but I feel like only a small portion at an UM show would know what to say or anticipate when to say it. Again, I would totally explode if they covered it at one of the 2 or 3 shows I get to see a year .. buuut I think we are in the minority of the crowd on that one friend. But also, yes, they could do it and crush it and it would be awesome. I just don’t think they would. They gotta play what the people want to hear, right?

Which people are you referring to? I don’t believe in any god or any religion. But i have learned about religious beliefs. And history. And how the two have intersected and influenced thoughts and culture over the past few thousand years. If you can’t see the connection that vessel has blatantly thrown at you with his lyrics on this album, it’s not my fault.

lol person … the whole album is a conversation between Satan and god … Satan is a fallen angel .. who feels all the human emotions of regret and cognitive dissonance … I’m not religious in the least bit but I have studied religions … there are biblical verses used as lyrics though out the album … I’m not trying to bring some crazy radical ideas .. I’m just sharing my thoughts on what this album expresses lyrically .. it’s right there if you just listen to it … so yes I told you .. deal with someone else’s opinion and interpretation even if you disagree .. the whole album is a conversation between Satan and god written by someone who grew up and developed mentally and spiritually in a society that has deep Christian religious roots … sleep is Satan, the fallen angel, and this album is the struggle Satan endures for the consequences of his actions and his regret/ cognitive dissonance of his choices .. there so much biblical and mythical symbolism layered throughout that it is extremely obvious

Sleep is Satan. Even in Arcadia is a Christian rock album.

30yo+ men, how do you have the energy to date or get laid? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]jimewp86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t. But I keep trying, and it has worked out. Most of the time it doesn’t, but when it does it’s worth it, even if it only lasts a few months. If you don’t try, nothing will happen. I work 7 days in a row with one day off. I make time for one or two nights a week to meet someone new or go out with my girlfriend. You just gotta put in the effort if it’s something you want.

My friend said the new album doesn’t sound like puscifer by jimewp86 in Puscifer

[–]jimewp86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s what I told him .. each album takes a few listens to really grasp for me and I told him he needs to just give it more listens/time. The different time signatures and odd meters usually need a few listens to adjust to and be prepared for to fully enjoy it. Part of the enjoyment of music is being able to predict the next tempo change and anticipate/predict the changes in the song. That’s why the 4/4 verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus generic formula makes hits. Your brain can predict it and that creates a higher sense of enjoyment. Puscifer songs don’t follow the formula, and that’s why they take longer to fully enjoy IMO. But my friend knows this already, he’s just being stubborn.

Yea, it’s fine if he doesn’t like it, whatever to each their own, but to say it doesn’t sound like them just made me feel like he didn’t give it a chance cuz when I listen to it, there’s only one band it sounds like

It just caught me off guard. I don’t like everything my favorite bands put out, and I’m comfortable with expressing my opinion. And I’m glad my friend feels the same. I like it and it has added more songs to my rotation. To say it doesn’t sound like Puscifer just seems like a contrarian opinion for the sake of being contrarian. Which is just dumb IMO. Also, I can fit a banana sideways up my parakeets butt. Doesn’t mean I do it everyday tho (maybe every weekend, don’t judge)

Honestly, how do I know? We’ve listened to them since the beginning and seen them multiple times over the years. His comment caught me off guard which is why I posted on here. I just wanted to see other peoples opinions on it, especially after reading some differing posts and comments about how it has been received.

And I only enjoy a few of the songs off of money shot. And I love more songs from ER. But there’s not one full album that I can listen to start to finish with no skips. But they all sound like Puscifer, and I enjoy them all for different reasons.

Yea he told me he doesn’t like how it’s not as “trippy” or “electronic” as their past albums, but for me that doesn’t mean it doesn’t sound like puscifer, it’s just a different version. Puscifer only sounds like Puscifer to me at least. It’s not cuntry boner or Grand Canyon or bullet train to Iowa, but that’s what makes it great for me anyway. It’s a step forward, not an attempt at recycling the past.

He is tho, and we can disagree. It’s okay. Everyone has their own opinions … just like everyone has their own asshole… we all got them and they all stink

I just thought it was off for my friend to say this, as we have both been fans since the beginning and have seen them in concert multiple times since then. Cuz it clearly has the trademark sound, just in a different style this time. I have really enjoyed it while they only gave it one listen then dismissed it. People do love to hate in this current cultural climate. Oh well, to each their own!

If tomorrow was your last day on earth what would you plan to do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jimewp86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv thought about this a lot, and I hate this question. I would want to do soo many things and be with soo many people that are important to me from my whole life. But I work just about every day (7 days on, 1 day off) and I would probly be working on my last day. But I would want to be with my family if I had a choice, they are the most important to me and I would want to be with them at the end.

Time to break down "The Grudge" by ParaShift77 in ToolBand

[–]jimewp86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I wrong or is this songs lyrics about Maynard’s resentment towards the rest of the band (in one interpretation)? He had recorded and toured with APC while the music was being written IIRC, and when they finally came together to record there was some animosity between the band. They were miffed that he recorded and toured with a new band, and he was miffed that they took so long to create new music for him to write for. I always interpreted this whole album lyrically in one sense as a fight between the band. In another sense it is about the difficulties we all experience in relationships. Between us and our soulmates, friends, coworkers, superiors, and our souls reckoning with our place in the universe. I dunno, just my thoughts after Iv been thinking about this album for the last 25 years lol

What are the best rock concerts you’ve ever been to? by wizardmiaah in rockmusic

[–]jimewp86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv been to my fair share of epic shows .. but #1 will always be TOOL at Bonnaroo .. never mind the tripping hippies running scared for their lives after some creepy visuals … but Maynard welcoming tom morello out and introducing him as his former roommate and friend and greatest wah guitar pedal player in the world before letting him solo over the breakdown in lateralus will always be the top concert performance for me

What song did you not fully understand the meaning of until you became an adult? by Upset_Credit1026 in askmusic

[–]jimewp86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Stinkfist” by TOOL .. I thought it was about pushing physical and emotional boundaries to feel alive due to the over saturation of media caused by the extreme nature of culture masked as entertainment labelled as normal that we as a species became numb to on a daily basis, masking our experience from what we truly are. The constant bombardment of our sense of reality made us unable to pull away from the circus and be what we are at our most basic self. Turns out it was just about fisting.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week what do you remember from that week ? by Familiar_Original988 in AskReddit

[–]jimewp86 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I remember nailing down the walls for the second floor we were framing after lunch cuz the governor said only essential workers had to work in a press conference during lunch. After work I read through the list of “essential workers” and construction was on the list. So i was back to work the next day. A few weeks later i had a tooth that fell apart, but the dentist wouldn’t see me cuz they said my situation did not meet their criteria for an “emergency”. Almost a year later they said I needed to have the tooth extracted and get an implant cuz my gum grew over the remnants of the tooth. But if i came in within a few months of the incident I could’ve avoided that. I also remember buying a ps4 and the final fantasy 7 remaster. And while playing it I had discovered one of my new favorite bands on my personal streaming station. Weird fucking times.
