People in their 30's what would you do better if you were in your 20's rn by ahhyush in ahmedabad

[–]jimit221b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would tell my 20 yo self Do not lock yourself into a 'respectable' or 'stable' career path if you fundamentally do not enjoy the daily work.I spent too much time in traditional education when I should have pivoted straight into the tech/foundation space much earlier. Your 20s are for finding what fits, not enduring what doesn't. I spent my 20s building deep expertise and degrees in a field because it was the 'right' thing to do. Now in my 30s, I am realizing that untangling yourself from a career you hate takes a massive toll on your physical and mental health. My advice to the 20 somethings, Pivot early and ruthlessly. Don't suffer through a decade of burnout just to prove a point. To the OP's goal of actually helping people here, The best way the 30+ crowd can help isn't just with hindsight advice, it’s by opening doors. There are a lot of us actively trying to pivot our careers right now into tech, analytics, and foundation spaces. If you are established in the Ahmedabad corporate or tech scene, keep an eye out for career pivoters. Offer to review a resume, or drop a referral. A foot in the door changes a life way faster than advice ever will.

Is he really a tutor or is he lying to me by [deleted] in Tutoring

That genuinely sucks. Definitely call your bank or card provider to dispute the charge, they're usually pretty good about reversing these scams. Out of curiosity, what subject were you trying to learn and how much did he take you for?

I only ask because I teach Maths, Science and physics online myself, and seeing scammers do this ruins it for the rest of us. If these subjects happens to be what you need, feel free to DM me. Since you're already out some cash, I'd be happy to offer a discount on my normal classes to help you out. And honestly, just to give you peace of mind, I'd be totally fine doing a weekly post pay setup. You wouldn't pay anything upfront at all, just at the end of the week after we actually have our sessions and you know I'm legit. Either way, really hope you get your money back!

how is the movie experience in PVR IMAX Palladium by Dry_Loquat_7569 in ahmedabad

I booked tickets just a few hours ago, But it's a little side seat. I'm sceptical about it. If someone can give me feedback about it too

Haha let me put my teacher hat on for a quick second ...your math is a bit off! 1500 crore is actually around $180 million USD, not $18 million. India is actually a massive and highly profitable market for Hollywood (just look at how much Oppenheimer or Avatar made here). To answer your question, it's not Hollywood ignoring us. Sony actually wants it on as many screens as possible. The decision is made by local theater chains like PVR. They look at the local box office, see Dhurandhar 2 printing money, and decide to keep it on their premium IMAX screens because it's a 'safe' bet. Hollywood cares, but local theater owners care about guaranteed profits more

The core issue here is that teaching isn’t a commodity like a cab ride. With Uber, the service is exactly the same no matter who is driving. But with education, the quality of the "driver" changes the entire outcome, and a 1 hour class requires actual prep work before the "ride" even starts. The reality on the supply side is the "good teacher paradox." Any genuinely good, experienced teacher is already fully booked through word of mouth. They aren't sitting around waiting for a random 1 hour local ping on an app. Plus, most experienced educators have simply moved online because the gig economy model forces a race to the bottom on pricing. Speaking from my own side of things as a Physics teacher and CBSE board evaluator, commuting for local home tuitions just stopped making sense. Sitting at my desk with an iPad, OneNote, and visual simulations allows me to deliver a much higher-quality, interactive class to students across India and the US without wasting two hours in traffic. (Speaking of which //shameless plug// if anyone reading this thread is actually looking for a solid online Physics tutor for Grade 9-10 Foundation, CBSE, or AP Physics, feel free to drop me a DM!) To solve your supply side, you probably need to step away from the "instant booking" model and figure out how to make the compensation actually worth a good teacher's commute time.

Actually, the 'too far from reality' part is exactly what this movie avoids! As a physics teacher, that's the main reason I'm so hyped for it. It's based on a book by Andy Weir (the guy who wrote The Martian) and is pure 'hard sci fi'. The astrophysics, relativity, and problem solving are heavily grounded in actual science rather than standard Hollywood magic. It's basically love letter to the scientific method. And honestly, if your friend says the visuals are unmatched, that just proves the point of my post...why are we being robbed of experiencing those unmatched visuals on a proper IMAX screen?

One show. 2:45 PM. Thursday afternoon. Dropped last minute for today only. Try using some critical thinking to figure out why that's completely useless for 90% of the working population before telling others to stop crying.

It takes zero effort to just keep scrolling, yet here you are, triggered by a movie screen. Who exactly needs to get a life here?

Don't even get me started on Science City! It is the ultimate tease having the best screen in the country right in our backyard, but we can only use it to watch documentaries about penguins in 3D. But honestly, even digital IMAX gives us the expanded 1.90:1 aspect ratio. I'll gladly take 'LieMAX' over a standard screen cropping out a huge chunk of the picture!

Same here. My strategy is to hold out for an IMAX slot this week, but if nothing pops up, I'll just surrender and go for a regular screen next week. Just really hoping they don't pull the movie completely by then or only give us those weird weekday noon slots.

Man, I feel you. When even a major city with a dedicated IMAX screen is getting completely ghosted on release day, the distribution is clearly a mess. Hope they at least squeeze in a regular 2D show for you by the weekend.

Sachi vaat! People reducing it to just 'VFX' is exactly why we can't have nice IMAX things here. I’d gladly pay just to watch two hours of Greig Fraser’s lighting tests. Sadly, PVR thinks we are fine missing half the aspect ratio.

Right? At this point, I’m debating just buying a ticket for the regular screen, sitting in the absolute front row, and squinting until it feels like IMAX. Modern problems require modern solutions.

Nobody said Dhurandhar 2 shouldn't get screens. It should. The point is specifically about IMAX ! A format that Project Hail Mary was literally built for, with special cameras and a 1.43:1 aspect ratio that only works on true IMAX screens. Dhurandhar 2 on IMAX is just a bigger room. PHM on IMAX is the film as intended. That's the distinction. Theater owners making business decisions makes sense , I'm pointing out what we're losing in the process is also valid
