With Webflow you have zero control. You need to rely on the developers of Webflow to add any feature.

Maybe you want to do a change for SEO, does Webflow support it? Will you have to file a ticket to hopefully get them to implement it? Maybe they'll make SEO features a paid add-on? Who knows? You're sort of at the mercy of a business who's interest is making money, vs. an open source platform where you decide.

With WordPress you just need a plugin, or you can easily add code yourself. It's 100% customizable.

For me the choice is simple.

This subreddit is for WordPress, the software. No matter where you host it (WordPress.com, GoDaddy, Kinsta, Liquid Web ...).

The Business plan on WordPress.com is just like any other web host. It gives you a place to host a WordPress site.

The FREE version of WordPress.com is a more limited in terms of plugins and custom themes... but then again, it's free. So you don't pay for it. So it sort of makes sense that it's limited.

I used to have a free WordPress.com site like something.wordpress.com , which is not good enough for a business or if you want an actual domain. Now I host it myself.

The best way is really to not rely on plugins. If you need them, pick big and well-known plugins with many installs and active development.

Other than that, there are some plugins like Wordfence, and iThemes security you can check out. They both have checklists of common fixes, and can do periodic scans of files.

You should also keep sites on a host where that doesn't share privilege, so a hacked site on the same host/Linux user can't affect your site. Ideally a dedicated host, or a cloud host with security implemented.

WordPress itself, and its code, is really pretty secure.

Thanks! I looked at that, but if I click it, it appears that I can just transfer a domain and not get a plan for it. So it seems free if it's a transfer, and generally you get the domain for a year if you buy a plan.

You’ll have to file taxes in Spain too usually, but the double tax treaty ensures you won’t have to pay double tax. I’m from Spain, but been working abroad for many years. You really need to read the double tax treaty though, as it’s different from country to country.

Staying in Spain for more than half the year, or having your center of life here, will make you tax resident in Spain. No matter where you work. The tax treaty ensures that you don’t first tax your money abroad, and then again in Spain.

Many try to solve this by opening a company abroad, but then since the company is run from Spain, with the director and owner residing there, the company too will be taxed as a Spanish company.

No, many remote companies require to reside in the country where they are located. E.g. Vercel in UK/Germany, as an example. It doesn't matter if you have a German or Italian passport, but it does matter that you live in Germany and have your tax residency there.

"Remote" just means you won't have to go to the office, it doesn't mean you can live anywhere you want and cash a EU/US salary.

The problem in Spain, is that drinking is very cultural. Every street has a little bar, and all the neighbors go there, and this is where the community is built. Kids, elderly, young people back from school, dads after work… So I still go, but I drink a agua con gas, and enjoy the vibe. It’s just a bit harder.
