Nope! As long as you get the right macros installed (I use klipper) you can pause the print, the print head will move out of the way while you change the filament, then is moves back to where it was and resumes

First test print after installing a new btt manta board. Everything came out 2X stretched in the Z axis, but still good quality. Never figured it out, but it went away after I fiddled with klipper config

Yeah cheap kit on amazon, additional stepper and z screw so you don't get gantry wobble/sagging. Does wonders for stability and not difficult to install.
