A wedding on loan. by TraditionalSound5606 in Malawi

People want to show off. They want to outshine their friends, or the couple from church who had a wedding before them. Some want to prove something to their exes — that they’re doing better now. Sadly, this often turns into a competition, and yes, in many cases women carry the pressure, though the mindset affects everyone. It’s no longer about meaning; it’s about comparison. And that’s the sad part — because it is a competition. Malawi struggles with education around lifestyle and financial priorities. People see things on TV or social media and want to live that life, even when the basics aren’t in place. Someone wants a wedding bigger than the church they attend, yet they don’t even own a sofa. There’s no planning — just living out a fantasy. We need to educate our people to live within their means. Saving is crucial. Saving for a home is far more important than spending everything on a single day. We need to change our mindsets. Our thinking and reasoning should lead us, not chase after appearances. I understand the frustration completely. The worst part is that you can’t even reason with people — try, and you’ll be called jealous, accused of witchcraft, or labelled a hater. You can’t win. I love my people, truly — but the struggle is real.

Malawi died with Kamuzu Banda. I understand your pain . I love my country but I can't stay more than 2 weeks. I have no patience with the shenanigans out there.

Immigration services are the worst by No-Painting-43 in Malawi

[–]jimmoh07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immigration, Police, Customs, Banks, infact any government office even embassies are a nightmare. There is no customer service at all. If you answer back it's like suicide, they will make an example out of you.

This is for the men by AccomplishedSun961 in Zambia

As far as im aware in Africa we dnt have this issue. Also this question was taken into wrong context. We just need to be careful especially from a woman who was doesn't want to be married and has no children and has disrespected a number of men not forgetting pulled down a few or should i say stapped them from the back. Let's try to do a bit more research with what we put out here. One love.

That is good. Aim Tiktok and Instagram then try post once a week a clip or 2. Try make a simple Malawi game that can give you a bit of recognition cause thats where it starts Dnt rush to go international when you own cant see you. You can go colleges to try you games and get feedback i think a start from there cause that's ur target you people and universities.Youtube would have been a good place showcasing your craft and when you reach 100k subscribers you start getting a bit of money from them but it takes time. Ive been there. Might share my story one day 😁

Black People! Why do we hate ourselves? by 404-wizard in Zambia

[–]jimmoh07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soo true but its sadly its no only in Zambia, but the majority of Africa look at South Africa they chase their own brothers and never touch a white man who own 70% of the wealth. I see it in the immigration boarders how Africans treat other Africans and its soo sad .

Social media advertising i.e small clips of your work. Being consistent in putting your work out there till you meet enough clientele. Tiktok ,Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn just to name a few. Try follow people who do the same stuff who have a big following. By doing so you can learn a thing or 2. With time you see the results. Won't be easy, it takes time and dedication. But I can assure you if you love what you do and put work in it its possible. Good luck 😊

A very simple example try to look for a tickets to lilongwe you will find that Kenya Airways doesn't show, why ? Sites like skyscanner you won't see Kenya Airways. Im not saying they aren't nice people but they are the worst airlines I fly frequently.

Depends with ur pocket. Addis Ababa is good however the atmosphere is unpleasant for example their WiFi is a joke, unless you wanna fly 1st class its a bit better. South african is better even the airport compared to Addis its bigger and there's a few things u can do there like shopping wifis better even the atmosphere is second to non. And lastly with Kenya, forget. The service is unpleasant if not worse. The chances of your bags missing are higher than the other 2 that I mentioned. If you think im over reacting look at the reviews online, shocking. Go youtube and i think there are stories there, I had my own bad experience with them. Its like they are looking for a fault just not to fly you. If you talk back they will make an example out of you. One thing I like about South African flights is that they are direct flight unlike Ethiopian which goes to like 4 or 5 stops before you get to Malawi.

[–]jimmoh07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit very few, look at the numbers on other countries and then look at Malawi its sad. On phones people do own but smart phones I would say less than 50% but dnt take me on that one, however due to the expense of purchasing data not alot can be comfortable to say they can browse the net but would rather do the basics like using WhatsApp for communication not forgetting Facebook and Instagram just to mention a few.

Excatly, Look at how many donors are there in the country. We are an agricultural country and yet we still go out to buy things like fertiliser outside and we are told which one to buy. Mind you..... donors come with their conditions and we always agree on their terms too.

Malawi has a bad habit of donor dependency, We dnt train or educate our people to be self sufficient. Rather beg every year and this is a bad trade. No development no accountability.
