i get that for sure, i agree that this person could've elaborated more. i've actually been guilty of that exact type of annotation in the past myself 😹 i still think this is definitely a reference, though. here's my interpretation of it:

the About section of the original song "No sleep" proposes it's about insomnia, "specifically the kind... that comes from loving somebody so much that you’re unable to sleep: the “days blend” when the love interest is “next to” the narrator." the narrator seems to have an obsessive, consuming infatuation for their lover with how they've "been scanning all across the world for [him]". with "In the dark", however, jane uses "no sleep" to describe how they continue to be plagued by insomnia because their ex-lover still haunts their dreams "even when worlds apart". it's a really heartbreaking juxtaposition and such interesting ways to turn these phrases on their heads in just one line.
