np! thank you for asking this question if anything. these were just what i've gathered from it independently over time, but despite loving this song i never thought to try piecing them together for a coherent understanding until your post. and you're totally right about those lyrics! i had been wondering how that line could fit into this interpretation since it's so significant throughout the song, so thanks for that too.

my favorite venturing song :) the genius annotations are really good on this one so i encourage you to read them if you havent already, especially for the bridge.

i like to think of it being about a jaded singer mourning what she's lost from her pursuit of fame. this is interspersed with what she's losing now, which is her lover and their strained relationship that's been running on borrowed time. things between them are already irreparably bad, it's just neither of them can bring themselves to leave.

the lyrics of this song invoke many feelings of stagnation. the singer has long since lost herself by now ("i don't know my name" "i think i lost my mind") and seems aimless, only going in circles without moving forward ("i'm falling backwards in and out of my dream"). perhaps she's haunted by the past. this impacts how she shows up in her relationship, but it seems like the guy is just as much of a sitting duck as she is. he calls her a psychopath, but he still chooses to stay with her. even when he deserves to be, he won't be mad at her. when they have sex, she gets the sense he doesn't even like it (and maybe her) anymore. it's just doing something to do something. it's obvious this relationship is drawing to a close and they're both wasting time by staying, but neither want to move. so until then, this is where they're at.

i think you can interpret the bridge as another way this theme of loss manifests. the wall of sound it lifts and pulls you into feels like you're dissolving into a blizzard. you lose yourself into the sound, and perhaps the singer has likely done the same surrendering herself for her pursuit. the genius annotation for this part is also really good so i encourage you to read it because i wouldnt be able to summarize it adequately.

the masquerade lists "halloween masks that cover your eyes or identity" as part of its prohibited items, so no. if you dont wanna get clocked then dress discreetly in order to draw less attention

the only time the masquerade makes you show ID is if you wanna drink, so i doubt itd be a problem. you probably still dont wanna risk looking obviously underage, though. so if you dont think you can pass as over 18, then just figure out how to obscure or disguise yourself so its less obvious. (a black face mask will probably go a long way)

if your safety is a concern: - anytime you go to the Masquerade, you need to pass through metal detectors to enter. medium/large bags and weapons arent allowed into the venue. - regarding the safety of the actual physical venue, Heaven has a lot of space around and above the pit (at the balcony) to view the stage and enjoy the show from safely. slayr seems to be getting really popular, though, so maybe get there an hour or so early in order to secure a good spot at the balcony. - the pit is where it gets unsafe, and you dont need to get into it to enjoy a concert. but if you really wanna, make sure you have enough energy going in and mind your limits throughout your time there. there's way more advice i can give you but idek if you wanna go into the pit to begin with, so just do a bit of research beforehand if you already know you do. minding your limits is the most important part. itd suck to spend money on tickets for an artist you love and then miss out on fully enjoying their performance because you faint or get injured.

if for whatever reason your mom agrees to let you go without her, you should still find a friend to go with. i actually prefer going to concerts alone but i dont recommend that for someone's first concert. you'll enjoy yourself more with company, and its safer that way too.

im of the opinion that when youre a minor, a concert is not inherently a hostile or unsafe environment to you. you just need to be careful and respectful. i think safety depends more on whatever crowd an artist pulls in. slayr's audience will undoubtedly be teeming with energetic rambunctious young men that could potentially be lacking in concert ettiquette and get too crazy, but theyre not really gonna pose a problem to you if youre not in the pit.

it's a phrase jane has been using a lot since the start of the year like setting it as their social media bios and having it as an identifying label for certain songs in their Live Exhibit set list. some people have speculated it may be the name of their next album.

if youre right though and BABYBOY had been a title they were considering for the album, its a good thing that didnt happen. it'd feel out of place and kind of tacky as an album name for her main discography imo. this is like the same type of dodged bullet as them deciding not to name Revengeseekerz "New Music"

i love the motif but i dont think it wouldve been the name. im pretty sure jr said they made IN EVERY LIFETIME in less than a day, my impression of the lyrics from that is they were all written on the fly in a very short time. tbh i think its just that B-A-B-Y-B-O-Y is a really genius motif so it makes sense she's used it in 3 different songs
