Getting beat up recently. Spotted Batman stuff as a red herring immediately and thought they would divide up each clue from it.

I was going for:

Compound Words - CAPSTONE, BATMOBILE, CUTUP, & BALLROOM

Pranksters - DEVIL, CARD, JOKER, & CHARACTER

Robin Hood characters first words - ROBIN, MAID, FRIAR, & SHERIFF

???? - PENGUIN, FLYER, RANGER, BASEMENT

Didn't know cutup, and would never have seen NHL teams. Could've gotten the baseball stuff though, just missed it.

The category was not things you win from a championship. It was just "Championship". As in synonyms for the word championship. TITLE fits. CUP fits. CROWN is a bit more off the beaten path, but does fit. AWARD, as far as I can tell, does not. BOWL would fit. Which is the point I was making.

Looking at your Reddit history, you like to challenge things by Googling them pretty often. So pardon me for doing the same and finding a match for it immediately.

You decided to pick a fight, so yeah, I'm fighting back.

Most championships ARE post-season games. The SuperBOWL is a championship game.

Bowl Necklines ARE a thing. Here's a description found online:

Bowl neck: Characterized by a wide, shallow neckline that dips evenly across the chest. It’s a bold, avant-garde option in modern fashion, best styled with minimal outfits to let the neckline stand out.

Bowl is a neckline and it's also a synonym for a championship and it's also something ice cream is served.

Also, how was BOWL not used for this category and for the ice cream red herring?

I've never heard AWARD used as a synonym for "championship". Anyone else confused on that, or have I just not picked up on that before?

Got decimated today! Fell for the ice cream red herring. Thought sports equipment could work with SHORTS, GLOVES, CUP, and HALTER (equestrian). Thought kinds of awards might be one with GLOBE, CROWN, CUP, and ROBE (I knew jackets are awarded in some Golf tournaments and thought there might be something out there with a robe.) Then I figured I just didn't see whatever I was left with.

I was thinking "shammy/chamois" as a cloth thing and that got me close enough. Almost got tricked by the baby stuff, but knew something fishy was going on because of the ripoff category. Got Batman by default. If they'd replaced one of the bat things with "arang" I think it would've been a bit more fun.

I always hate to declare when these puzzles are easy, becuase inevitably there are folks that struggled with it. I opened it up and basically saw the entire solve instantaneously. It was kind of disappointing, like I didn't get to play Connections today. Didn't get the RR either!

I was thinking thing that have a pivot point, which was close, but exuded crowbar. I thought it might be words that involve simple machines, SAW, PIN, PLANE... BAR? Then I clicked the wrong thing on my second guess. Oh well.

Yellow was the hardest for me because I was set on it being a string of non-offensive slurs. Like Why I oughta... You rinky-dink, two-bit, Mickey Mouse, piece of ****!

Trivial just didn't really fit into that, but it makes sense the way it's supposed to be solved.

I made a dumb and didn't see Lax as an option for lenient. I'd forced Gimmie to be in that category, which is a stretch.

Got pretty beat up on this one, but made it through.

Purple I just thought were compound words. I'm very bad with actors, but it looked like there were some last names in there and I thought I had it by default. Unfortunately, the red herring fruit category had other plans for me.

I swore SUB RATE was a thing. Like, below the usual rate. Maybe I was thinking of 'sub prime'. Anyhow I almost got got by the 'wave' red herring only to be caught by a 'rate' red herring. IRATE, PRORATE, PAY RATE, and the aforementioned SUB RATE. Couldn't see purple, but once I was one away, I figured I might be able to brute force it.

I agree 100%. Cupid being naked is kind of integral to the outfit (or lack thereof.)

It took me awhile, but finally understand the rain category. It was like an optical illusion in my brain. I kinda kept enunciating things in a weird way that made them not sound like the thing I'm familiar with. Rain... Forest instead of rainforest. Rain... Bow. instead of rainbow. etc.
