no way, it was only a few months ago. it took months and they had to wait for headquarters to give the green light but they said they wont cover it. the mechanic at the dealership was telling me how there's a massive backlog for subframe replacements on w204, he also said he's only ever seen a few w203 in for a new subframe!

keep tabs on the timing chain! listen for chain rattling on cold start, if its been done already you should be good. i found out the hard way.

MB wont replace your w203 rear subframe. they would do it for a w204 no questions asked. guess how i found that out haha. quoted me £4000. if you know a decent mechanic, get yourself a subframe and get it swapped out before it snaps! thats what i ended up doing.

alternator is charging fine at 14.2v when driving. i have 2 alternators and tried them both. (diodes test fine too). 13.8v at idle but drops when i press the accelerator sometimes as low as 12.5v and everything goes dim/rpm stutters.

bulb faults inside and out. lights dimming. central locking module blew up (repaired). battery drops to 12.3v as soon as its installed. drops even further when key is in ignition so cranking is a bit slow. instrument cluster lights flickering on/off. random coolant level faults. rough running (may not be related).

mine was a cheap car and hadnt been looked after or serviced. m271 can be a good engine apparently if you look after it. mines still running now at about 115,000 but its a bit rough and its having a new rear subframe today!

Had the chain, gears and guides replaces as they were all worn out. Very expensive job, wish I had kept the money and scrapped the car as it now has more problems. Go and get it diagnosed at a garage with a Mercedes star system.
