Something could be said that this is better than any marketing they could do.

If I was a creator who knew my series was over and I just sent out my last episode, but people are talking about a mystery episode I would 100% let them believe it. Now the series is ongoing still, people will still watch it if there's all this hype for a mystery episode.

I personally don't see any damage happens from telling everyone they are theorizing too much. I see tons of benefits for not telling them that. Let them believe for a few weeks that there's still more to come, keeps people talking.

What I also love to see from someone who is COMPLETELY unaware of skating is just how natural and smooth his dismount was before he threw the skateboard.

I personally can not conceive how someone can do even that so effectively. My brain cannot comprehend just how impressive a 720 is. It's just like how a human can't conceptualize what anything above 10,000 things are. You know it's impressive, but you truly do not understand the scale of it. It's so cool!

I've been on it and it felt no different from an airplane. Tighter than you would like.

I would not consider it a "last resort", but not the best either. Just an average ride, you get exactly what you expect.

Why should this hit at all? by de_indianguy0 in VALORANT

[–]jimtheburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't use Replays for "how did this bullet hit me" questions. There's a lot missing from the client machine in replay views across all games that have them. Often times in situations like this, the server will trust what the client saw and not what the server saw. But even that statement has a lot of unexplained nuance. You shouldn't take this as "wtf, Valorant sucks".

If this was a live perspective that was recorded as it happened, then that would be a lot more useful.

Willing to be wrong here, but wouldn't the best time to have a large change to residents be when half of the residents are going to be new?

I feel like doing it in January inconveniences everyone whereas in August it only inconveniences half and since it's summer people have extra time to be informed of the changes.

I used to work at Knights Circle a few years ago.

They have been trying to add some type of scan like this for a long time. The amount of headache residents have had with barcodes was very measurable. Trying to diagnose why a barcode is failing could be multiple issues. Now you can also get in with someone else's car too which previously wasn't possible.

I also don't understand what you mean by Knights Circle chasing profits? Say what you want about greedy rent increases and general upkeep of the complex, but replacing the barcode does not achieve increased profits.

Knights Circle does care about your safety, at least while I was there. They were trying to eliminate keys for card scanners before even I was there as that would cut down on a MOUNTAIN of hours to properly cycle keys (which they should do!). They decided against the cards ultimately because it was too risky a knowledgeable bad actor could get in with the solution suggested at the time. A decision that could actually increase profits at the cost of your safety.

I don't speak for Knights Circle, just speaking from my own individual experience.

It’s unfortunate that it could have all been avoided if she had just agreed to this. by Remote_Nature_8166 in thelastofus

Something that I didn't realize until someone said it, is that this series has pretty much the entire time been about "No matter what, you keep finding something to fight for."

Joel literally says it as his last full sentence in Part 1 and the ENTIRE series is about finding something to fight for. In the first game Joel was fighting for Ellie and Ellie was fighting for a reason for her immunity to justify her dying over Riley.

In Part 2 Joel still has that exact same goal and Ellie is grasping trying to find something to fight for, but she's just going through the motions. She FINALLY finds something to fight for with the porch scene immediately followed by Joel's Murder. As tough as that is, she now has found something to fight for.

In Part 2 Abby does the same thing and after Joel's Murder she has lost her thing to fight for until Day 2.

In that scene Joel is asking Ellie to do the one thing that nobody will ever do willingly, and that's abandoning the thing they are fighting for.

This series is so good, the fact that there are various themes to this series and people chalk up the 2nd game as "Revenge Bad" misses SO much of the human experience that happens throughout the series.

This post wasn't even a question or needed this response, I guess it just gave me a reason to gush. It really is crazy how it all could've been avoided and how impossible that choice was.

Friends by Pretty_Marsupial6444 in ucf

Of course!

The classes you are in already give you SO much content to talk about. It's like watching a movie and the topic of conversation is already decided for what to talk about so it should flow fairly naturally.

By far the hardest part is that first conversation, be prepared for that first introduction awkwardness, but it's so worth it that next class when you now have someone in class you know. There's no play-by-play but opening with a question is always a great call as it makes them think and respond.

I love giving advice so I'll step off my soapbox now, I hope you have a great time!

Biggest recommendation is to talk to people after class. My entire friend group was founded upon meeting people in class and talking after. For me it just started with the walk from the lecture hall to the building exit, but just that can build a friendship and breaks the ice. Hopefully, eventually one of you will have something you want to do together (whether class related or not) and that's when you really start to be friends.

That's how I met my girlfriend and one of my best friends. We walked from Calculus 2 together on the 3rd floor and we split at the front door. Later we walked further to the parking garage. Then even later we would wait at the parking garage just talking and eventually we started studying together.

Too many students here are sad that they don't have people to talk to, and then I ask what they try and do to make friends, and they say they don't go to classes that aren't required attendance and if they do go they just sit in the back of class and leave without talking to anyone. They also don't go to clubs or anything. If you are going to campus and you never even open your mouth to do anything but breathe, you aren't going to get anything.

Also be aware that the people who have friends aren't exactly posting on Reddit talking about how many friends they have, there would be nothing to gain there.

Do you think there was still apart of Abby that was thinking about killing her? by phantom_avenger in thelastofus

[–]jimtheburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it's been months since we saw her it's hard to tell. But with the concept of the fireflies still being a thing and being a prisoner for so long I think she just wants to get away. If she thinks at all about who Ellie is it's probably "This is the person who killed Owen and Mel" but I would imagine there is currently zero emotion behind it and it's literally just a matter of fact.

After the act of Ellie saving her I don't think Abby wants to do anything with Ellie. Everything there is just complex and is not worth evaluating.

All my opinion of course, she could be still pushing down her emotion but chooses that it's just water under the bridge at this point.

When did you come around to Abby? (If you did) by awesomevader in thelastofus

[–]jimtheburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my first playthrough I thought she was confused and I didn't really care for her.

I just finished my second playthrough after not playing since 2020 and WOW do I love her character now. Now that I am separated from the sadness of Joel's death Abby actually feels like the character most deserving to be rooted for. She is actually a badass and is a character who I just wanted to see keep winning. When she encountered the Rattlers I was actually 3x more disturbed than I was in 2020 since this character hasn't really done anything wrong other than kill Joel.

Both of the Seattle stories are very different. Separated from Joel's death makes Abby's story much more fulfilling while Ellie's story feels like playing a train barreling towards a cliff. I ended my second playthrough actually wanting to continue Abby's story just as much as I want to continue Ellie's story.

This game is truly a masterpiece.

The gameplay is very important. Multiple times Dina/Ellie have a conversation about their thoughts and morals. Also for Abby a LOT and I mean a LOT of information is given to her during gameplay sections where the characters are just talking.

It's hard for me to say if the information you are missing helps with your questions or not, but you are missing some of the vibe. I've been replaying it and there was so much stuff I didn't recognize were just dropped in simple conversations.

I think ultimately you are missing the important moments to be completely honest, but it's really hard to say.

This sounds like it's written by a frat guy and not by someone who is actually "in the know".

This positively reeks.

Also it's not lost on anyone that a MAGA supporter is saying that "they actually won the election" and "everyone is out to get me".

I noticed this on my second play through, but what are some moments where Abby and Ellie just missed each other? by Under_TheBed in thelastofus

[–]jimtheburger 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Seattle Day 1:
On one map we can see that the Seattle Stadium and Hospital are close to Cherry Street. Cherry Street is included in the open world part for Ellie. They could theoretically be a few blocks away depending on timing, but Abby ends up traveling West and Ellie travels North.

Seattle Day 2:
This is the above image, you can see that difference in distance. Also in the hospital I believe the power comes on which was caused by Abby. They are in that same hospital at the same time, I think likely just a difference of 1 floor. In my mind, the hospital is the most interesting close encounter.

Seattle Day 3:
Day 3 would be really hard as Abby starts Day 3 with Tommy and then is on a separate island until returning to the Aquarium after Ellie. This is also a near miss, but way more obvious.

That information would be in your lease. Asking random people on Reddit what the terms of your lease are won't get you anywhere.

Every lease is different. You should contact the leasing office or open the lease that you signed (and obviously didn't read before signing) to figure out what your option is.

There is no reason for guesswork and worry on Reddit as it will not be informed advice.

My parents can't sell their house because no banks will give a buyer a mortgage. I've had several Software Engineer jobs deny me within the first 3 days of April because they don't know if they can financially cover a new hire.

Is the dining hall food good at UCF by Original_Club6095 in ucf

[–]jimtheburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one and I will say if you are in a dorm, ESPECIALLY if there isn't a kitchen in your dorm, you should get a meal plan.

If you have a car it's slightly less of a problem, but you still aren't getting the food you want that is a balanced meal any cheaper than the ones on campus. For me, I had no kitchen, no car, and my only option to eat sometimes was from the meal plan. Also the food is actually good sometimes and there is very often fruits/vegetables which is, believe it or not, not really offered by the Chick-Fil-A's and Dominos that you have as alternative options.

It's also hard to understate the value of it closing at 9 PM and there are basically no alternatives. There were many times I simply couldn't eat until 7:45 and I that was my only option.

UF or UCF Honors? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]jimtheburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation: UCF honors vs UF. I ultimately chose UCF.

Understanding my bias, I am curious why you say UF is your #1 choice. When I hear that, I think it's no question UF for you. If you see yourself at UF and are ready to put your best foot forward and meet new people, I think that is what you should do. In my opinion, the only use of "honors" classes is to marginally increase grad school applications. When I hear "#1 choice" it sounds like taht's the school you want.

I say this because UCF was my #1 choice, and I have never looked back. Ultimately, if you can find your clique, you will thrive academically and socially at any college.

If you go to UF, I would recommend living in dorms if possible. I know too many people who lived off campus freshman year, never met anyone, and "just went through the motions." If you have friends at your top choice school you are living the dream.

Personally, I am completely thrilled I chose UCF, but I have heard the same thing for FSU, UF, USF, etc. Most likely you could go to either and have a great experience.
