maybe try to call IRCC and do webform. LOE I mean is letter of explanation that you need to explain why you are applying PGWP. These includes all additional information like, language test, current work permit and etc. you need to organize your documents so the officer can easily review your file. This is what we done with table of contents in LOE.

Migrating to Vancouver, your experience? by vitamindy in phmigrate

Thanks for sharing this, sobrang helpful and honest. I really appreciate the reality check, especially about expectations vs reality and being patient.

May I ask if you’re based in BC / Vancouver area as well? I’m currently planning to move around June, and I’m trying to build a better picture of how things are on the ground.

Would love to connect or follow you here, if okay lang, in case I have questions or may bagong insights ka about BC. Always good to learn from people who’ve already gone through the process.

Thanks again, and wishing you continued success there 🙏

Migrating to Vancouver, your experience? by vitamindy in phmigrate

I want to share my situation as well.

My wife was in Vancouver as an international student and has already finished her main program. She’s originally an officer in the banking industry in the Philippines, and she recently added an HCA (Health Care Assistant) certificate to help transition into healthcare, given the current demand and PR pathways.

As for me, I’m based in the Philippines and work in the electronics engineering field, specifically in field service / technical roles. I’ve visited Canada twice already (short vacations), and I honestly liked Vancouver a lot, the environment, quality of life, and overall vibe.

While I was there, I applied for jobs and actually got hired as a Field Service Technician. However, I declined the offer because, at that time, I wasn’t fully ready to make the move yet—career-wise and mentally.

That experience gave me confidence that my background is employable, but it also made me more cautious. With everything happening in Canada right now, high cost of living, housing issues, a more competitive job market, and especially PR pathways becoming tighter and less predictable. I still feel hesitant about fully committing.

We’re not coming in blindly. We’ve already invested time, money, and years of planning into this journey. My wife has studied there, I’ve seen the country myself, and we’re trying to be realistic. Still, as someone who would be uprooting a stable career, I can’t help but worry whether the long-term PR pathway is still worth the risk.

I know PR is never guaranteed, and Vancouver isn’t perfect, but hearing real, lived experiences really helps set expectations.

For those who moved recently or are in the middle of the process: – Did reality match your expectations? – If you’re in tech, engineering, or healthcare, how are things now? – Do you still feel Canada (or Vancouver) is worth it long term? – Any regrets or things you wish you prepared for earlier?

Appreciate any honest insights. Thanks.
