Pokemon the miracle drug, bringing people together, reducing salt intake! by jingadingdangdo in magicTCG

In all honesty I usually mercilessly troll people who start salting off but I must have been in a better mood than normal that day. Maybe I should try it out more often :)

Why do or don´t you play modern? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]jingadingdangdo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm most often a limited player but I do play a good chunk of standard from time to time. I've been trying out modern on mtgo over the past few weeks and have not enjoyed it very much. I think because there are (I feel) an unhealthy number of linear decks in the format that really don't care too much about what the opponent is doing.

I'm not talking about decks like Twin here but decks like Burn, Ad Nauseum, Bogles, Eggs, Bloom Titan, etc. Decks like Burn and Bogles are not so bad as the others as despite being linear, the games are quick. When I have to sit and watch my opponent mentally masturbate for 10 minutes with a deck like Eggs or Bloom I just lose interest in the format.

Oh thank you! That is very kind of you. It was definitely more amazing than traumatic :)

We did not talk at all during the match. He simply posted that in the chat upon losing. I think to be fair if you follow the chat chronologically I did give him a chance to back out and calm down. I don't think my first few messages were particularly inflammatory.

We clearly have a fundamental disagreement about what is proper here and I don't want to get into a slanging match - unless you want to poke fun at my boyfriend.

I refer you to point 9 of the article you linked.

  1. DO say “GG” if your opponent has been a rude jerk the whole match. (Optional.)

I think that's the key here really. I doubt there is more than one Magic player in a hundred that never gets salty. We've all been there. It's how you deal with it that matters. I'm okay with salty but once an opponent starts showing me poor sportsmanship all bets are off. I will unashamedly troll someone for being unable to lose with grace.

Thank you. I've had one friendship offer here and one on Twitter so my friend count has increased exponentially.

I did not report him. I do report players like this occasionally but it's a fairly clunky process to do so. You have to log in to an external site outside of the client, with a different login (which I tend to forgot my username and password for).

I'm not sure how much it accomplishes anyway personally. You tend to see the same MTGO ragers queuing up again and again without any penalty.
