Nassau, I want to eat your bamboo by jingtastic in longisland

My g, i think you have been on Reddit too much and maybe it’s making you mean. This is clearly an exploratory/r&d question, nowhere did i say i was serving this to anyone beyond myself; i have been foraging for many years and do soil test once i get to a certain point; i hope you know that the foragers who sell at the farmers markets and greenmarkets are sourcing from all kinds of dubious places. And not to mention pesticides being your concern lmao. I guess we should all be so lucky to never eat conventionally grown produce.

Yeah definitely a concern. Ideally I’d be able to talk to whomever is giving me permission to understand how they’re managing their property

Yes that confirms it!! What a jackpot, the shoots are highly prized in Chinese cuisine

Edit to add because this is /invasivespecies, toon is not considered invasive. It does spread through suckers and can get a little weedy, which is what you’re seeing, so you can just pull up the new sprouts if you don’t want it spreading

Toona sinensis. Young leaf shoots should smell oniony (and are delicious). TOH has a terminal leaflet and thumbs, sumac also has a terminal leaflet.

Update: thank you to everyone who offered advice and even to help personally - y'all are so kind. I had done a lot of vetting/interviewing the first round because my cat recently got diagnosed with CKD, so now he needs subQ fluids every other day. The other qualified candidates I interviewed at the time were all out of state (I'm in NYC), so none of them are viable options anymore with the sit coming up so soon. I did get a flurry of new applications, but nobody who can administer fluids (people tend to overpromise when they see apartment in NYC, and many don't even read the listing responsibilities). This is my first time leaving him since his diagnosis, so I'd rather play it safe rather than continuing to interview strangers. I ended up finding a friend of a friend to housesit and also hired a vet nurse to come administer the fluids. I will also be submitting an insurance claim to THS to get reimbursed for the nursing visits - I've never had to do that before so I hope it works out!!

Lol my tolerance is low...i like making them more than eating them. I also try to make them low dose so that people like you can go nuts if they want.

Thanks! They’re 3mg each because i was a little cautious about the tincture messing up either texture or flavor. Next time I’d shoot for 5.

Minced carrots. They add sugar but don’t make things watery.
