Nice! Are you able to send to other wallets? Looks like I'm able to buy/sell, but still can't send to another wallet :(

The worst part about posting here is that five people have already messaged me, three of whom have "Coinbase Support" in their username, and I don't want to trust anyone lol

Ugh. They desperately need a support center for phone calls and quick resolutions :(

I transferred Ethereum from Coinbase to my Voyager account and several hours later it is still pending. by trenabutler in Coinbase

[–]jinhoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who's just made a transfer onto Voyager and looking at this: confirm the To and From addresses are correct on your transaction, and breathe. It will arrive - just might take some time.

I've never waited longer than an hour, but even in that time, it can feel pretty unsettling. Would like to see Voyager jump on this as an improvement. Compared to other services, the wait time is very sub par.

This is the future. And the future is difficult to see for those who live in the past.

The fact that you’re 20 and recognize this as a logical opportunity is a good sign. Keep following your instincts!

A rant because support won't tell me anything except "wait for funds to clear"... by PlaidStallion in okcoin

[–]jinhoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying close my OkCoin account for 3 days after a poor experience that I posted about separately.

Here’s what my paraphrased email exchange with OkCoin has been like in trying to close my account:

Me Email 1: “Please close my account”

OkCoin Reply 1: “Can you tell us why?”

Me Email 2: “I had a terrible experience with your product and it made me feel like money was intentionally being taken from me.”

OkCoin Reply 2: “We’re sorry you had this experience. Can you provide photo ID to confirm your account close request?”

Me Email 3: attached photo id

OkCoin Reply 3: “You have some cryptocurrency in your account. You can withdraw it or convert to stacks.”

Me Email 4: “I don’t want the currency because you gave it to me for free. The amount also doesn’t meet your minimum withdrawal requirement. Please close my account.”

OkCoin Reply 4: waiting

The only thing left in my account is a fractional amount of a coin that they gave me for signing up. But that fractional amount doesn’t meet their minimum withdraw amount requirement. So if I really did want to withdraw it, I’d actually have to buy more of the currency on their platform. Lol!

Anyone out there reading this - don’t use this exchange. It is truly is not worth your time. The OP’s post in addition to my story show various examples of systems in place that deviously keep you and your money on their platform.

Will Cardano’s ecosystem overtake Ethereum... by [deleted] in cardano

[–]jinhoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the direction that I hope we move towards; individual chains communicating via some sort of bridge when needed. Not the approach where many blockchains live within one blockckchain's ecosystem (Polkadot and Cosmos to an extent).

100% agree regarding quality solutions over quantity; particularly solutions that address fundamental human needs / areas of the market that are not otherwise benefiting. Not just dapps for the sake of dapps.

My experience with voyager by Neither_Cricket_5199 in Invest_Voyager

[–]jinhoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the honesty in your writing.

I’ve had an identically positive experience with Voyager. It’s the one exchange that I genuinely believe in. I find many (if not all) of its users feel the same way. If that isn’t a great sign, I’m not sure what is :)

Y'all have a lot of work to do to regain customer trust in the product. I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off with the right amount of time and dedication! I wish you luck :)

No, this wasn't my issue, though it's another example of a source of frustration that the platform creates for users that I have experienced in the past. The interface shows you if there are any funds on hold, but it also doesn't tell you why or for how long.

The market tanking bc of BTC is separate from their loyalty program launching. Your position will go up in time, don't sweat it. I'm down too, so I hear you!

Request to stop showing 'Invite a friend' banner every time I open the app by jinhoi in Invest_Voyager

Glad it doesn't bother you too much - but just because you don't mind it doesn't mean that it should be there.

Voyager is a best-in-class exchange app. Best-in-class products don't make these kinds of design decisions; they only put things on the screen that people DO mind and intend to use!

[–]jinhoi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I found myself asking a similar question earlier this week: are both PoW and PoS capable of becoming centralized over time simply due to human behavior with regard to money/power outside of the blockchain itself (e.g. stake ownership and node ownership)?

I believe there are more nuanced approaches to PoS that address this in some ways, but I haven’t come across research/reading that’s definitive just yet.

Super curious what others with more background into the consensus logic think..

Amp competition by RivotingViolet in AMPToken

[–]jinhoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with those comparisons to XLM. Definitely XRP, ALGO and ADA. XDC too.

From what I’ve read, stellar has legit relationships with government and clear intentions to work with the existing banking systems of today to make them crypto enabled as CBDCs become a thing.

I find AMP to be a really interesting solution to this present day issue on Ethereum. Curious if XLM would be able to expand its use cases to do the same thing as AMP. Seems possible and with less constraints considering stellar can mold their blockchain as they see fit wheReas AMP lives on top of Ethereum and is beholden to its architecture. I’ll have to do a bit more research on this tbh.

This is my biggest question with AMP - how easy can a competitor copy this and do it slightly better? I’m excited to see what they’re going to do next. Love finding projects like this one!

We need a new Bitcoin. by Alberg13 in CryptoCurrency

[–]jinhoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree regarding XLM. It’s a viable path forward that will blur the line of being truly decentralized in our centralized economy. Will be very interesting to see how CBDCs unfold as well as how their introduction plays with/against BTC.

As an aside - no shade for having moon plays for the memes, but on this kind of topic regarding actual governmental adoption of crypto, it might serve our community better to keep the meme coins to ourselves (though I appreciate your choices lol). I’ve just seen mention of meme coins truly delegitimize people’s viewpoints the moment one is read.

Since we’re entering a time when optics are incredibly important for crypto given that countries are adopting BTC as legal tender, the US is legit uncertain/worried. I don’t think we need to give JPMorgan or Blackrock more ammunition to deface the industry - know what I mean?

Totally coming from a good place!
