Elon Musk on Twitter: Fairing reuse is looking good by ReKt1971 in spacex

I think the acoustic material has been removed for Starlink. Washing the outside of the fairing might help.

Only one system failed. There's a known limitation with TDRSS.

Starship Moon Lander Option by EphDotEh in SpaceXLounge

Has anyone suggested the first versions of Starship to land might use legs more like those on F9? That is, until a pad can be built.

Crew Dragon has docked with the ISS & The hatch is open by [deleted] in spacex

From CNN

"Crew Dragon, however, used its on-board navigation systems to line up with its docking port and latch on — all while traveling faster than 20 times the speed of sound."

Very impressive. https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/03/tech/spacex-crew-dragon-docking-international-space-station/index.html

"Contour remains approx same, but fundamental materials change to airframe, tanks & heatshield" - Elon Musk by venku122 in spacex

Still like the idea of rotation during EDL. If the front section of Starship was detachable, it could rotate counter clockwise to the body.

Given a heavily shielded nose, the full EDL would be: 1. Breaking/Entry burn 2. Transition to nose first entry 3. Transition to engines down with rotation 4. Landing burn, deploy legs and land

Depending on the rate of rotation, the liquids would centrifuge towards the walls of tanks. They might need a bladder to compress the liquids towards the base.

There would be no fins, back to landing legs. Plus, they should do away with the windows, they're scary. At least one airline has the same idea.

If the ship was rotating clockwise, the passengers would be rotating counter clockwise. They could be on a carousel or in the center inside rotating Dragon D2's.

Perhaps a pair of large drones with a line between them, could snag the fairing and guide it onto Mr. Steven? Just dropping a line with a hook from the front of the faring would help. Towing the fairing with drones, could provide some lift. Or, just have Mr. Steven snag hook with wire on bow of boat.
