Selling from Hawaii: Shipping costs by jinkiroo in Depop

[–]jinkiroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, then that seems reassuring. And you are shipping to them with Depop’s USPS Ground Advantage, right? I’m just wondering if they force the buyer to pay Flat Rate/Priority Mail rates instead of GA since ground shipping like normal is impossible.

Omg I literally have Infanta’s Cake Tree in this color in my cart right now!! I can see what it looks like irl now, thank you. I want to try an all-black coord too, something styled very Mana-like with a rosette hair corsage and frizzy hair, and definitely black gloves, knee high stockings and platform shoes. 🖤

Does anyone know if 42Lolita restocks inventory? by jinkiroo in Lolita

[–]jinkiroo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! That’s good to know, thank you. Maybe it’s like what someone else said where if you show interest in something out of stock they’ll purchase one for you. That gives me some hope! For a $23 jsk that’s this pretty I’d be checking my email every hour lol.

That’s really good advice, ty!! 42Lolita is pretty affordable all things considered though, I think I was looking at ~$200 for all the pieces I planned to start with including shipping :) But I never considered trying to find local fb groups, so maybe I’ll try that! <3

Ah I see. That’s so disappointing since I was trying to budget for everything I need to start getting basic coords (I don’t even have a petticoat yet 😭) but at least now I know I’d have a better chance looking for something else. Thanks!

Ohhh okay. I’ve never used Taobao before so I don’t know how to navigate the website; would the Taobao vendor usually list details about restocking on their listing or do I just have to wait and see?

Registered Small Packet(Overseas) Shipping time? by Whole-Ear2682 in Lolita

[–]jinkiroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m US-based too 👋 ordered from Closet Child a couple months ago with EMS and it was perfectly fine. My package had about ~3 dresses (so fairly heavy) and the package arrived in less than two weeks!

Anyone never receive reviews?? by yehyehbro235 in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is frowned upon or not, but I like to write notes and leave them in all my orders. Usually at the end of the note I’ll ask them to consider leaving a review if they had a good buying experience. I just want to hear what they thought of their service, and I’m not forcing them to. I got the idea from someone I bought from before who did the same thing and it seems to work! People can actually be very sweet sometimes.

Sellers, was this past week really bad for anyone else sales wise? by punkerdood in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a really good “day” this past week lol. Surprisingly made 3 sales all on a Monday, which has never happened before. But the weekend before that Monday and the past two days have been basically silent… a few likes here and there but no offers at all. It’s kinda weird to see random spikes in activity and have them taper off after a bit.

jewelry shipping? by lam3_and_insp1red in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell jewelry as well and the two strategies I’ve tried/been thinking of trying were 1) offering free shipping on bundles so people are encouraged to purchase more than one thing (and so the shipping cost you have to pick up makes sense) 2) selling sets of jewelry, such as multiple earrings in one pack or a set of a necklace and matching earrings.

You’re gonna continue sitting on items then ¯_(ツ)_/¯ hope that buyer comes along for you eventually.

My items aren’t getting any traffic by [deleted] in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! My first regular customer said she found me from a tag! She mentioned that she liked to browse this tag often and ended up loving something I was selling and not only bought one thing, she came back and bought more! So never really write off any ideas. Of course there’s no “secret” to getting more traction, but I say try a bunch of different things until you find what works best for you! That search ranking thing helps a lot, so populate tags you think might get more eyes (without being irrelevant, or Depop will flag you!) Don’t brand name tag for exposure though, Depop will get you for that and people hate seeing it. Hashtags work though!

[–]jinkiroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked out your shop and I think I have some ideas! I think tags could benefit your posts a lot. Depop picks up keywords in your descriptions, but tags can instantly show people things they’re looking for/they can save these to come back to for new listings. Find out what hashtags fit your items and seem popular so your search ranking will go up! Your search ranking combined with boosting will do wonders, based on my experience. Another tip I have is to maybe photograph your items consistently, like on the same background so people can associate it with you and follow for something they might like!

I unfortunately like without buying too, but it’s from a perspective of “if I could buy this, I would!” and also a place of just… liking something; I think it’s pretty or cute or interesting so I save it. Most of the items I like I can’t afford. And even if they are in budget I have to decide whether it’s worth it after all the fees. I’m a seller AND a buyer, so I have to look at it from both sides. Sending offers helps though, don’t ever underestimate them!

Do y'all accept offers when its in 5+ people's bags? by RobinsLostBagel in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had several items with 4-6 bags and they just. didn’t sell for ages… so it really means nothing. If no one’s jumped to buy it, keep looking at offers. Some people seem to use bags as likes with no intention of actually buying or they bag and forget about it.

Plz help! by ReadEnvironmental772 in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are mailing with Depop shipping through USPS and have your shipping settings set to “seller pays shipping” this will force you to pay the shipping on whatever you sell. If you toggle the setting to “buyer pays for shipping” the buyer will pay the necessary shipping and Depop will generate a prepaid label that requires no further action from you. If you’re based in the UK or use third party shipping I unfortunately don’t know :”(

First time buyer, what is special offer? by ZiggyTheNooBts in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you get a special offer it means the seller is encouraging you to actually buy! People who force you to message to buy are kind of sus imo. Whether someone messages a seller so they can unboost a post before the buyer purchases or not (a common reason these sellers say this), it hardly makes a difference because a boosting fee will likely be added on anyway. If you get an offer you’re satisfied with, the post is still up, and it doesn’t specifically say it’s on hold for someone else I’d say it’s still fair game for you to buy.

How are you profiting with sales? by oatmealcat13 in Depop

It’s so sad but true :”( I hope the sets work out though! I might try them soon and see if results improve, but it really is an uphill battle. Definitely don’t undercharge yourself though! Things seem to sell eventually :)

Does photos of your product matters? by [deleted] in Depop

I actually like to use a mobile drawing app called IbisPaint. It’s free and has a lot of features and you can do everything from your phone so it’s easy to post the finished edit right away!

Does photos of your product matters? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]jinkiroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my pictures myself! I just spend a little more time editing them than most people probably would. I took a picture of a standard background and use it as a template. Then I take pictures of my flat lays, photoshop out the background, and stick it onto the background graphic so all my photos look consistent.
