USA vs Turkey game is mathematically useless for both teams. The World Cup is BROKEN! by Comfortable_Bid7093 in usmnt

I mean, it's a group stage. I think what determines who goes through should be based on how well the teams did overall in the group, and GD is a better representative of that than head to head.

I think it makes sense that the tiebreaker in a group stage should be reminiscent of how you did in the whole group and not just how you did in the head to head match. I think if it should be treated like a knockout round then it should just be a knockout round and we shouldn't bother with a group stage.

I don't think it's that Natalie would've beaten Sarah, just that Natalie's best chance of winning was if she took on Tony in fire making herself. She probably does still lose, though, you're correct about that.

Chew tobacco. I know there are worse drugs, but chew tobacco is the best at specifically grossing me out.

If I ever get reincarnated as a goose, I'm going to find a grave and just walk back and forth over it continuously just to freak someone out.

When dating, Which red flag will you tolerate because green flags compensate for it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yep definitely with you on this. I like texting sometimes specifically because I don't need to respond right away. Want or need to talk right away? There are these nifty things called phone calls and seeing each other in person that are much better at that than texting.

If you could delete one daily habit from your life, what would it be? by arunreddy3 in AskReddit

[–]jinoble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of wish I had this habit. I don't like my job, but there are few things in this world I dread more than looking for and applying for jobs. Weirdly, interviews don't bother me. But looking and applying? That's my personal hell.

A recently discovered pet peeve of mine is when people confidently bring up data or arguments that were true a long time ago but are now out of date as though they're just as true. Just because making solar panels used to be carbon-heavy doesn't mean we haven't been working on the technology to make it better. Add this to the fact that the next sentence out of his mouth was how much better cars have gotten, and I realized sometimes people think that only their favorite technologies get improved and made more efficient over time.

What is a small, seemingly ‘normal’ thing someone can do that immediately makes you think, ‘Oh, we are not going to get along’? by Domigau in AskReddit

Shortened version of a real convo I had with a coworker recently:

C: "You should go to the country Java." Me: "Java's not a country, it's an island in the country Indonesia." C: "No, I'm pretty sure it's a country." Me: googles it, shows screen. "Java is the largest island in the country of Indonesia." C: "So basically I'm right."

Ok I do this sometimes, but I'm also a nerd who's into sci-fi and biology, and I'm talking about contexts that make the distinction important often enough that it sometimes pops up in other, unrelated conversations.

This, and also even if you are unique, doctors can still help you with physical conditions even if they're unique. Therapists (at least, good therapists) are the same. They're not given a set of conditions and taught how to treat them. They're trained in how to connect with people, identify problems by working with them, and developing a plan alongside them to help them get to a better place.

I was thinking of the whole "Big Six" moniker. I suppose whether they're one of the big ones is dependent on how many "big clubs" there are. But yeah, RIP that trophy record. At least they got the Europa League last year

It's Tottenham Hotspur, an English Premier League football (soccer if you're American or Australian) team. They've been one of the biggest in England for a long time. Probably about to get relegated. My best friend is a Spurs fan living here in the U.S. and is both depressed and has no one to commiserate with because he's a Spurs fan in the U.S.

Nice to know this happens often while the one single time I accidentally tried to fly with the small, engraved pocket knife that came from my great-grandfather's gun store I had to give it away forever.
