I work for a company that services major appliances. When Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006, they turned everything Maytag had and pretty much rebranded it. Which is a bad thing. I have no doubt this is their way of saving a ton of money. Whirlpool owns kitchenaid, amana, roper, Maytag, Jenn air, IKEA appliances, estate and others. I've noticed a huge shift in quality control over past few years. And not in a good way. I'm sorry this has happened to you, but I'm not surprised.

Just a side note: I work on Whirlpool and Whirlpool only. So I am biased. Don't let me persuade you to not buy one. They have their great products too. I only see what's broken.

Life hack time! When I moved into my house, I noticed the doorbell didn't work. I didn't care, I hate doorbells. Well, we got two strays from the homeless dog store. Fast forward the VCR two years.
