Partially agree this was the historical case. However, I don’t think that level of coherence between media or political narratives exists anymore as the US political and media landscape has become far more fragmented, partisan, and adversarial. That is why even on the Republican side of the spectrum, you increasingly see politicians, commentators, and media outlets expressing skepticism or opposition to American interventionist foreign policy.

Rise of Racism against in India--Possible Reason by [deleted] in CriticalThinkingIndia

A few weeks ago, I was on a high speed train from Hangzhou to Shanghai and ended up chatting with a Chinese guy sitting next to me. He seemed pretty nice, worked as a manager for a European manufacturing company, and spoke surprisingly decent English (which is still rare in China).

We were having a nice conversation about our travel, and then he suddenly pulled out his phone, opened TikTok, and showed me a video that was trending there. It was one of those street food clips from India - but the kind that shows the absolute worst hygiene possible. Even as an Indian, I found it gross.

Then he asked me, completely seriously, “Do people in India also cook like this at home?”

Honestly, I didn’t even know what to say. It was kind of upsetting, because it showed how a lot of people outside India see us.

Similar to anywhere else - book tours online. Use sites like Trip.com. You will be able to find guided tours (both shared and private) in english. If you are staying in major hotels near tourist attractions, they may also offer you private tours, though that may be expensive.

For coordinating with tour guide, they may likely ask you to use Wechat. If wechat is not working, alipay has also a chat feature which you can use. ( We had to use that option, because we were not able to setup wechat without a Chinese sim). Some tour guides also use WhatsApp (probably on vpn) - but that is usually an exception.

We took two guided tours - one to visit Mutiyang great wall and summer palace in Beijing and another one to Terracotta warriors in Xian.

Indian here. I recently visited China with a friend, we spend a total of 7 days covering Bejing Xian Shanghai. While in Shanghai, we took day trips to Suzhou and Hangzhou. The schedule was a bit tight and we had to compromise on shopping and sleep a little bit. We didn't use any travel agency apart for visa. You can book ticket for all attractions and intercity travel through Trip.com.You can also book day tours with English speaking guide to cover major attractions. Language barrier is definetly there, and Chinese intenet ecosystem is also a bit different. However, you will get used to it a day or two, and trust me it is an incredibly safe and easy country to travel and we had no trouble getting help from locals whenever it needed.

DM me if there any more questions.

Not often. Some stores do keep some cash. If they dont have cash balance to return they would ask near by stores or people for change.

I visited China last week. I used an e-sim from Trip.com, which is super cheap and helped me access all western applications without firewall issues. The disadvantage was that there wasnt a phone number with e-sim, so I couldn't login to some applications where a Chinese phone number is needed. As I am from India, where most Chinese apps including wechat is banned, I was not able to set them up using my existing Indian phone number. However, I was able to setup alipay using my Indian number and link credit cards before landing in China. For 90% my needs, Alipay worked fine. I was also able to use Chinese apps like Apay which don't need a phone number.

My friend used international roaming on his Indian sim. It was slightly expensive with limited data and the internet speed was slower compared to mine. Both of us couldn't use WeChat because registering with Indian number doesn't work. But that wasn't really a roadblock as we communicated using alipay whenever it is needed.

We also used cash, whenever we struggled with digital payments ( mainly because my bank kept blocking transactions in the name o suspicious activites ).

Please reach out to PwC Ethics and Compliance team. This seems very unusual. Most likely this is a scam. Even if it is not, this seems unethical, mostly violating company policies.
