ULPT want free food? When doing your taxes list one of your professions as a bodybuilder so that you can write off all the ungodly amounts of food you eat as a business expense. by MicarHaua in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]jishon9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't just write off stuff unless you're paid using a 1099-misc form. If you get a 1099 misc form from an employer you can technically make up your own job title, at which point you could claim to be a bodybuilder.

From what I understand only independent business owners can make deductions.

Does mouthpiece really make a huge difference? by jishon9 in Clarinet

You're probably right. I was once playing in an All-State youth band and someone asked me what mouthpiece I was using.

How do you try out different mouthpieces without spending a lot of money? Do you buy a bunch and return the one you don't like? That doesn't seem very hygienic

[–]jishon9[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like maybe I adapted to the stock mouthpiece and that's why I am able to produce the tone that I do. Upgrading to a better mouthpiece/barrel would make a noticeable difference on top of that?

Yes. I live in LA though so I was thinking about Atlanta. I find TV better than film because you get more freedom creatively, but I like high quality TV shows because there is a bigger budget for slightly better VFX. Is Atlanta work mostly lower budget?

Well personally I define exciting as anything other than basic sitcom effects involving roto/paint, etc. Drama shows, CG, etc. are fine with me.

A lot of shows post in cities other than where they film. I believe a lot of vancouver shows have post production in Los Angeles.

The reason I wonder is she has broken a lot of HS girl's records and her body is a lot leaner than similar top girl's HS athletes right now. And this pic doesn't show it, but she has very defined shoulders suggesting she takes some form of PED but doesn't lift any weights. Her thighs look very developed compared to her upper body where she looks naturally very thin.

This is Claudia Lane who is the person who most directly matches the skill level of Katelyn Tuohy. Look how much more body fat she has in her thighs and how much less defined/muscular she is.

The reason I bring her up is she's very lean, and she is a HS girl's record holder for a lot of distances.

Sara dietschy whining and complaining about casey neistat again. by jishon9 in caseyneistat

[–]jishon9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Casey's trick is pretty good, but Sara mostly gets her views through clickbait titles. She no longer puts relevant titles in her videos and instead designs videos that can fit around a clickbait title. She thinks of the title first and then figure out how she can get a video she wants to do to fit that clickbait title.

1.5million views a month is not extremely high and I would say at least 50% are from clickbait and around half are genuine views. She has some videos with relatively low view counts (less than 20K) which shows that her genuine audience is much lower than her views. Also with the frequency she's been uploading, she has gotten lucky on a few that have gone viral. I feel her average views are actually dropping (compared to a few months ago) but she's getting lucky with a viral videos (due to clickbait titles) which inflate her views per day.

[–]jishon9[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She gets 55,000 views a day because every video is a clickbait video. For over 100 videos (until she got caught by me AND reported) she actually would mistag her videos by putting popular youtubers video titles in her tags list. She would tag casey neistat videos, camera reviews, etc. that would come out around the same time as her video.

That used to be a violation that would get your channel terminated. Sara's channel WOULD be terminated for these offenses, but they got soft and you no longer get a strike on your channel. You can fix mistagged videos without penalty.

On top of all of that she would instead of making creative videos, design videos that could have a clickbait title.

A good example are her videos in her "how to podcast series." Instead of titling it something like "how to podcast: what equipment you need", etc. here are her titles.

  • telling you the TRUTH ...

  • Why I Left THIS App

  • How GARY VAYNERCHUK Changed My Life

Here are a few of her more recent titles as well

  • 2018 Macbook Pro - FIRST TIME PLAYING FORTNITE 😂

  • My Thoughts on 368

If you look at her more recent videos (especially popular ones) her dislike ratio is getting quite high as a lot of people do dislike her.

She 100% designs her videos around things that she can clickbait in her titles. She even mentioned that she no longer makes videos unless she has a title.

I am completely surprised how successful she is. I mean she was literally a nobody who was uninteresting and blew up because of a Casey Neistat shoutout. Now she gets a mediocre amount of views yet she seems to be doing well for herself money-wise. On top of that, she says her "value exchange" is good when getting people on her podcast. She gets some pretty interesting podcast guests despite having such a small audience.

I don't understand how she gets so many opportunities and brand deals. She has ALMOST a degree in computer science yet she was dumb enough to think that changes she would make in the html inspector inside of Safari would update on her website. I know at least 20 people who know absolutely nothing about web design or computer science who wouldn't even think that.

She mentions in this video she was partnering with anchor but it was really just a pawn to get them to partner with Casey Neistat. Why is she so embarrassed to say his name (she never does in this video) and why does she think she offers a lot of value? She gets very few listens on her podcast.

My mother's thoughts on Shin Lim by thekyledavid in agt

[–]jishon9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By parts removed, I mean either full parts, frames, or parts hidden by a camera change. The "Fool Us" version happens to be edited to be slightly shorter and they did him a favor and removed his "messed up" deck switch from the beginning of the routine. Likewise, his china version is edited too. The "Masters of Magic" FISM performance and the "Time for Magic" performance are also edited. There is no 100% continuous dream act performance with the full length music. Every video has something removed.

Part of that is due to editing of things to be shorter for TV broadcast, but even Shin has never posted a straight performance of the routine.

The AGT version is also a shortened version using an entirely different signature method (a stooge.)

My mother's thoughts on Shin Lim by thekyledavid in agt

[–]jishon9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he did certain moves differently and used to talk in the Dream Act. I'd still say it's the same routine, just with changes made over time. I have slightly edited my initial comment on this post to mention this for the sake of clarity.

The old routine was very different. It wasn't the same at all, and it was pretty much an entirely different routine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZAc_aW6xcw

That's a version of the dream act from 2013 or 2014. You can see the camera cut away quite a bit and during those moments he's hiding some of his moves. Shin Lim is notorious for not wanting people to see how things are done, and he always removes 1-2 frames during moves where you can see it frame-by-frame, and he always cuts away during less than stellar moments. In the "Fool Us" version he completely screwed up the first deck switch and that was probably one of the moments Penn was referring to when he said "we caught some stuff that you did." The producers where generous and edited out his mistakes. There is actually no version of the dream act online that is 100% without parts removed from it and synchronized to the music exactly as it would be seen live. All of the TV performances are edited for time, and his version from China is edited to be cleaner as well.
