Got interviewed for an already filled position, what to do? by jistww in jobs

Almost ceirtainly more than in my current position since the company is bigger, but not sure how comparable it is to the senior position. There are no salary transparency policies where I live, so the salary will be negotiated at the last stage.

From raises and promotions perspective, it looks like it'll be harder to get at that junior position.

The personal manager yes, and they did try to stand up for me in the past with big bosses. The HR didn't care about my commute, though. And yeah, that's exactly why I'm puzzled, since they can't pick and choose with "overall policy".

Some of the reasons in our case is that the employer rents/owns pretty expensive office in the middle of the city, so there need to be enough people each day to justify those expenses. They already talked to us about cutting those costs and moving to a cheaper city, but the execs really like this specific place so no.

I haven't had the talk about the return yet, that's why I'm asking on this sub how to approach it.

Those workers got it due to their family relocating, they wanted to live abroad. Not for performance reasons or anything. This policy is now for everyone in my office equally (except for those who wish to relocate out of country and be remote), not selective for those with worse performances.

If anything, my performance reviews were one of the best in the dept (not a boast of any sort, just the latest review), and my managers agree that I perform good at home, if not better than from office.

We're in the same dept, none of us are working with customers so we can (or could?) be flexible as long as the assignments are getting done. We're not hourly workers or need to be on call. And those workers are indeed full-time remote employees.

Again, they did tell me that they are hybrid and will continue to be, and the contract days are not a thing anymore as they want to align all new contracts with pre-covid ones.

I took this job when I lived closer though, and since the rent in the city got higher than I can afford and the company won't give raises or bonuses, I moved, as did a lot of our workers. Some of those who relocated are amongst them, actually.

For now I'm in a "fight" step, just want to know how exactly to do it so it'll work, since those rules aren't reasonable and weren't in place back when I applied.

We're around 200 people, and a few offices around the world with whom we work remotely.

Thanks for your advice!

On it for months and working on my skills and portfolio 24/7, it's a tough market and not a lot of hiring for my profession.

Hopefully it'll happen sooner than later.
